PeZBOT is a multiplayer bot-mod for Call of Duty 4 and World at War. The aim of the mod is to introduce A.I. to local multiplayer games so those who choose not to go online or prefer to practice against bots before doing so, can.

The newest released version of PeZBOT for Call of Duty 4 or World at War will always be available in the "Downloads" section, here on ModDB.

The source code for PeZBOT 011p (CoD4) and 005p (WaW) has now been released. I had initially wanted to release versions 012p and 006p but have lost interest in modding and have moved on to other games. This will likely be the last update here, though I may occasionally check back. I have (or will) create some new forum sections for sharing your custom PeZBOT versions.

Check the download section or click the link below for the source.

How can I make it so the bots spread apart around the map more and don't all stay in the same general location together?

Also, how can I edit the difficulty of the bots in the source code? I set the bots to svr_pezbot_skill 1.0 (the hardest difficulty), and they're still too easy. I'm hoping there is something in the source code to make them harder.

I tried to run this mod on a rented dedicated server. The option that restart the server every X map to avoid "out of bot" error stop the server (the last map running remain in the final score screen instead to start the new map) instead restart it. Is there any way to avoid it?
Thanks

Hi,

The function you're referring to was only meant for Lan servers and won't work on Dedicated. Since 011p's release, however, a workable solution has been found that adequately does the job (I've used it for years).

Here is the modified 011p version: Mediafire.com

The Rcon Password is set to "12345ABCDEF" which you will need to change to your own. You can do this by editing line 258 in the svr/pezbot.gsc

The folders that are no longer in the pezbot.iwd (character, maps, mptype, svr and waypoints) are server-side files, only the 3 folders remaining in the pezbot.iwd are needed for the client.

If you have any problems let me know...

HTH.

Does this modified version work on offline lan mode too, or only on dedicated server?

Hi,

Yes, it works exactly the same as a dedicated Lan as it does a dedicated Internet server. If you're running an older system (like 10 years old or more) I'd highly recommend running a Lan server and then connecting to it, as the frame rate is much higher.

If you have any problems let me know...

Re: Changing the Rcon Password

I almost forgot, you'll also need to edit the "12345ABCDEF" on line 1550 of maps/mp/gametypes/_globallogic.gsc file...

I think that's it :D

Cool, would have saved me plenty of time and grey hairs if you would have come
up with that solution a few years ago.

Do you know also a solution for fast_restart/map_restart/
map_rotate/nextmap, so that bots continue.

Yeah, tell me about it :/

If I recall, I spent many MANY months trying to come up with a workaround without success and then one day I came across this discussion on MODSonline: Modsonline.com

This has been around since 2012, devised by Dobriy, and after tweaking and playing with it I then used it on my own server for the following 10 years.

With regard to your question, you can rotate to the next map by typing 'exec kill.cfg' in the rcon console (or the console directly if you're on LAN), but, although the bots will join, you won't take the current real players with you. Since a forced rotate was rare, and just as easy to request players to rejoin in such an event, I never spent any time trying to develope a better method.

Hope that helps :)

Yeah, thanks ATP, also for your S&D multi-round Fix, very cool

Let's say the kill "feature" is a good working solution for starting a new map,
but for restart/fastrestart a bit lavish.

If you want, we could make a bug fix addon for pezbot 11b,
to get rid of all the unpleasant little bugs starters have to deal with.
Not now, some day in the future.

I must confess, I wasn't aware new users faced unpleasant bugs, if they have/do they haven't posted them here to my knowledge.

The main problem new users face is how to use and configure the mod to their liking, hence OG_Gamer's 'PeZBot Launcher' project that seeks to address that issue. He has also created his own 011b version according to the summary, here: Moddb.com

Perhaps you could hook-up with him, seeing as you are both actively working on the mod, and release a bug free version addressing all the issues you think need fixing?

Just a thought...

OG Launcher is pretty nice to have, GJ.
Already hooked-up before. He is working on the launcher side.

"Bugs" is maybe wrong expression, was thinking about things like multi-round issue,
bots don't wait for human players to start match, etc.
Most stuff are fixed in Pezbot WARsound Moddb.com but not in vanilla pezbot.

Anyway, have a nice one

I'm guessing from what you said ("Most stuff are fixed ... but not in vanilla pezbot") that you were talking about an update/fix to this mod right here, yes? I thought you were talking about a seperate mod...

I'm not a member of the PeZBOT Team and haven't been since the release of 011p, so I couldn't just upload a fix/update or start continued development even if I wanted to, not to this mod, and as far as I know development of this mod has officially halted. The person you need to speak to about adding a new updated version to the file list is Lord_Gannondorf, or better still, take 011p (vanilla), apply your fixes, and post it on your own page with a post on here linking to it.

Regarding your example of an "issue" - Yeah, I get it, we all want everything to work in all instances, but when you're the person that has to spend time and energy working through endless issues/bugs and requested features, stuff such as your example doesn't even make the list, as you could simply remove the round delay and resolve the issue (afaik the delay's purpose was only for online games anyway). The S&D teleporting bug was an issue, for sure, but this? Not so much.

I know you already posted a link to your WARsound mod a few pages back, but post it again with some emphasis on the fixes, as it's not obvious on the mod page itself that yours is a mostly fixed version of 011p. I'm sure it would garner even greater interest if people knew.

Yes, you have a nice one too :)

Yes, a patch fix (addon) for 011p.

Sadly, it looks like Lord_Gannondorf left the scene.
I'm not keen to to update it, but would be nice to have,
especially in terms of cod4x.

You seem to be one a few to be capable to do that.
There would be a lot to talk about each tiny "bug",
but then it stays like it is. What a pitty.

I have moved on from playing CoD but I'm still around and visit here occasionally.

If you (or someone else trusted) wanted to have control of the mod and this page I'd be happy to add them to the 'PeZBOT Team' group which should allow editing the ModDB page. Even if you didn't want to create new versions of the mod you could still edit the description, perhaps linking to other variations of the mod people created.

Let me know if it's something you're interested in, I don't have the time nowadays and it would be good to have another person in the group capable of editing the page.

Well, I'm not keen either. Thankfully, most people seem reasonably happy, as is, so I'm not going to get too down about those "bugs" :)
