Uh-oh, he doesn't pull the charging handle after he empties the mag! :O looks great, though.
When you empty the mag of an M4A1 (or an M16, or any other AR-pattern rifle), the bolt locks open due to the bolt catch mechanism, which means you don't need to pull the charging handle on an empty reload. All you need to do is hit the bolt release button on the left side of the rifle to close the bolt and chamber a new round, which is what is depicted in this animation.

Though you're correct, it doesn't feel very good, I think the reload would be improved with a pull of the charging handle.
This is a quality comment because you initially phrased your "uh oh" as if we did something objectively wrong, and then tried to justify it by explaining how it feels wrong in your opinion despite not having felt it yourself.
That said, yeah, we'll be experimenting with what feels best over development time, and at the moment, the team v much likes it without the extra unnecessary pull.
I'm a really big fan of the unnecessary attitude in this comment despite me being more than reasonable and respectful in both my initial comment as well as my response to the reply.
I made a mistake, was corrected, then admitted that the other person who corrected me was correct and that I wasn't. I didn't try to 'justify' anything. After admitting I was incorrect, I followed up with my opinion. I don't need to hit 'R' on my keyboard to watch an animation and decide if it feels good or not, just watching the animation does well enough, and I think pulling charging handle would make it feel a little more aggressive, that's all; it's not like I insulted your animation or anything, I just personally like when the charging handle is pulled.
But, hey man, you do you and be a jerk to someone who tried to give some constructive feedback, that's a really good way to garner a community that's excited for your project. Even better, being a jerk to someone who offers feedback is a great way to improve what you're working on.
Alls I'm getting at is that your initial comment said nothing about feeling, and came across as if you were trying to correct, and after being corrected yourself, your second comment takes it in a different direction. As a result it didn't feel like genuine feedback of "this doesn't feel right," rather an attempt to save face by saying "Oh no that's actually not what I meant."
Call it hubris but I don't think our friendly community that we regularly have lengthy constructive discussions with will disown us as a result of me pointing that out.
Wow I look away for a few days and suddenly there's commotion in my ModDB. Tsk tsk.
There's no need for this kind of negativity here, guys! We can all be friends and have civil discussions here without calling each other out.
Lookin' hella fine
Are you guys going to make a reload animation for the m203 after firing grenades? It always bugged me when other mods don’t do that. Looking at you Black Mesa.
It depends on how the gameplay works out. If I recall, Black Mesa originally had a reload animation but cut it for gameplay reasons. We'll have to run some more playtests ourselves before making a final decision on that.
