looks really neat, like the source engine :D
better lighting and things flying around but the physics look worse. and the walking of the zombies looks like they are gliding over the ground (needs a little improvement, that's probably just the mod) the zombies look really good!
i guess the latest orangebox version of source beats the lighting hands down as well (check out dynamic doom3-style shadows for example). but i guess that is the engine limitation there and not much can be done about that (i might be wrong though)... you're right about the zombie movement thing though, but imo it doesn't spoil the atmosphere that much.
Unreal Engine is closed souce and all has been. The new engine that he is using to make the successor to this project is 10x better than the souce engine and Unreal Engine 2.5 in every way possible.
