The year is 1984. Oceania is now the dominant world power, after overthrowing Eurasia. Many are in awe of this incredible world force, and subjugate themselves to its oppresive rule. The tyrant of Oceania, "Big Brother", is invading peoples personal lives more and more each day. First propaganda boards and television screens are erected at each street corner. Then, cameras are placed in each persons home. Every day this oppression grows, and soon those who are against Big Brothers tyranny end up missing or dead. Among this chaos, no one has a chance to complete their anti-government speeches. Several underground groups emerge, but they are terminated mere hours after they arise. Children are encouraged to spy on their parents, siblings betray siblings. Orwells Hell: 1984 is EuroTek Studios newest TC modification, based on the Source (Half-Life 2), and the X-Ray (STALKER) engines. Featuring an extensively deep singleplayer mode, and vast multiplayer possiblities, OH1984 is an...

EuroTek Studios is proud to announce the first Propaganda Contest, to kickoff the beginning of the development of Orwells Hell: 1984. The rules are as follows:

Er-erm, although the opinion you are voicing is the central theme of all Orwellian Literature (in slightly different language however), you are too stupid to realize it. You probably think that the fact that I have arranged a Propaganda Contest implies that I am pro-government, but you failed to take this "*** grano salis". Don't take things at face value. 1984 is widely accepted as the best political book of the 20th century. If you don't know about it, perhaps you should read it before assuming its pro-elitist. It is actually exactly the opposite.

It was written by George Orwell in the early 20th century, about what he feared the future of this world would be, in the year 1984. He forsaw a tyrannical government, lead by the infamous "Big Brother". If you actually bother to read it, you'll understand that what you thought this book (and in particular my rendition of it through the Source engine) is actually the opposite of what you assumed. It is a warning to the next generations to be weary of future governments.

Please, before you assume and insult, research. It is an easy acronym: BAIR (kinda like how a dislexic person might spell bear ;) )

I think that guest has something going there. We don't know if your mod is going to turn out to be total **** or not. You can't just make a contest and expect people to enter, when you have no work done, or anything, they could make a mod themselves if it were that reason. You need to offer something if you have nothing done, like a free t-shirt or cd.

Listen, EuroTek Studios is currently a non-profit group that just enjoys modding. If you want to join our contest or not is your choice. We are offering some rewards, but the whole point of this is to have fun, and show off your creativity. I don't know how you could possibly think that the guest had something going. He gave non constructive criticism. You, on the other hand, did give some suggestions, which I would love to be able to use in practice, but cannot at this moment.

I suggest that if you don't think that this contest is worthy of your time, you do not enter it, and leave it at that.

And you cannot make a mod with just a couple of billboards ;)

There is nothing wrong with basing a game or mod off of a book. Take the recent Lord Of The Rings movies, for example. They are worlds better than any movie someone could have come up with on their own. I am bringin lots of new stuff to this mod, that wasn't in the book. I am merely placing it in the same environment as the book.

You said that the government and my mod can burn in hell. That implies that the government is evil, so my mod is... My mod actually expresses the negative points of an overly powerful government.

Also, simply saying that my mod can burn in hell really isn't too helpful. I really don't believe that you are the leader, or on any mod team, so lets see some links already (duh)

Wow, great idea for promoting your mod. Create a contest for a mod with no content, ask the people who enter the contest to create mod content and if they win then they have the option to join the team.

lol, sounds a bit help-wantedish.

Well, it is admittedly a little help-wantedish, but I also think its a great opportunity for people to make humerous billboards, etc... Don't worry though, there are already model renders, and we just got a 1337 concept artist...

If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything. Some of you kids need to go back to the basics with that one. ;)

And here's my contest:

I need a n00b guest to spam a news comments section of... oh say... modDB, with pointless insults and **** everyone off. The winner will get IP banned and and all of the members' ill-will.

only reason I say that, is cause everytime someone posts on here, there has to be someone that hates there guts, and when i go to read the original post, i end up reading the "flamed" part too...
