Matt here, and this is an article explaining how and why I created custom assets for Order of the Skull.
FIRST: The reason I did so is because I originally started this project as a method of learning game development. so I figured why not learn the ins and outs of creating custom entities?
CUSTOM OBJECT 1: RE-COLORED CRATES.
These were the second objects I created once I figured out how, and I'm glad I did, as these fit better within a mansionbase themed level than the original crates!
CUSTOM OBJECT 2: Candles with RED WAX!
Now I mainly created these for a sequence I wont spoil here, but they are great for cult themed horror!
CUSTOM OBJECT 3: CLEAN SHEET METAL!
This was the first one I created that I made any change other than re-coloring to the texture with, I essentially cleaned the texture off and made it more shiny and new looking.
CUSTOM OBJECT 4: CUSTOM BARREL
This one was the first object I made a custom normal map for, as the others used the original normal maps. Major changes in the shapes mean the standard normal map file would have looked odd, so I was forced to download a plugin for my image editor that could convert an image into a normal map.
no real reason for posting this, Im just incredibly happy with my creations, and wished to share them here!
