Finally I have finished my first block of college this year and have enough spare time on my hands to work on getting the right models into oblivion for the Mod to look right (like a real puddle jumper instead of a bunch of boxes called Puddle Jumper).
This also means I am working on getting the mod ready for a public release, I have decided to tell you all a couple of the features too.
First is that I have the style of the stargate chosen, it will be the Stargate Universe gate and no Im not willing to change my mind on that. Because I have no idea how to get it to work like it does in the show, it will be a case of using the dhd and being instantly transported to the other gate which you chose from the dhd menu. Speaking of the dhd, it will be in the form of an ancient control panel since there hasnt been a new dhd shown for the sgu gate.
I have changed the story a lot but wont spoil it, all I can say is that it will involve human form replicators, goa'uld and another race which Im not going to tell you about yet. Since I have the resources available I will be building up a crashed Goa'uld space station, an crashed Ancient ship, Puddle Jumpers in each village for fast travel to certain places, and a Goa'uld Hatak in the sky (accessable by a set of rings inside a underground goa'uld facility).
You will have the option to be with several different factions, but some will be a case of choosing between them (good to make you want to play a couple times to get the full experience). These include the races I have already mentioned, and a few yet to be revealed.
The first planet you unlock will be a barren desert world, similar to Abydos, but was an Ancient planet not Goa'uld. The other 2 planets I want to make (in later releases) will be a forest planet with normal humans living there (appearances can be decieving). And also a planet which changes depending on the date, this is caused by the orbit around the sun there being an oval shape, it heats up as it gets closer and the world becomes close to desert and as it goes away from the sun it cools and turns icy with very different wildlife coming out to hunt. I was thinking on another planet which is in constant twilight as one side is too hot to live on and the opposite side is too cold but along the bit in-between is perfect. But I have no idea if the construction set can handle that sort of solar motion.
After these main releases I will begin working on add-ons which do not rely on each other, only the main mod file, to work, which means you can pick and choose which planets you want to have, so you are not forced to travel somewhere you dont want to.
I am still open for anyone to make a planet to add to the mod, if enough people start making planets I will dedicate a small village to have each person shown as a character with their ModDB username that, when spoken to, tell you what part of the mod they helped make. This would work like a credits page.
