60 years went by since one of the best machine guns has been developed, the MG 42. The MG42 was one of the most dreaded weapon of the German armory. A frontal attack by infantry on a MG position was nearly impossible unless you like to get home in a body bag, because of the enormous fire rate of 1500 shots per minute. In 1955 the Bundeswehr (German Army) was established looking for a good MG. Nothing was easier than reviving the MG42. To legalize the use of the MG42 in a modern, NATO accepted army, the MG42 was modified able to use NATO standard ammunition (7,62 x 51mm). There were only a few other modifications needed to fit the MG42 modern international standards.
Even after all those years the MG3 (which is the name of the modified MG42) is still one of the best machine guns. With a fire rate of 1200 shots per minutes it is superior to many new MG's just like the American M60 with a fire rate of 550 s/min or the PKM with a theoretical rate of 650 s/min.
Being used by the infantry and also as a weapon on vehicles like the Leopard, the MG3 will remain the dominating MG in the German Army for many years in the future.

After some criticism towards the model we decided to improve the Hind and to satisfy your wishes. The result is an improved version made by our modeler hunter and skinned by Kampfwiesel. We hope you enjoy it.
