We're proud to announce the start of the Off Limits Closed Beta. We've managed to track down and fix the remaining known issues, so we're finally ready to call this a beta. This is where you guys come in: if you're reading this it means the mod is available on Desura and we've sent out our 200+ beta invites, so check your mailbox for the invite and get downloading! If you haven't got an invite yet but still like to join the beta test, it's not too late - just let us know.

After nearly 8 years we are proud - among other things - to announce the start of the Off Limits beta [ and I'm extra happy we got to beat Duke Nukem Forever after all ;) ]. We've managed to track down and fix the remaining known issues, so we're finally ready to call this a beta. This is where you guys come in: if you're reading this it means the mod is available on Desura and we've sent out our 200+ beta invites, so check your mailbox for the invite and get downloading!

If you haven't got an invite yet but still like to join the beta test, it's not too late - just let us know. We've also deployed Off Limits to our beta servers. We have four servers in the US and one in Germany, with some more in the UK coming soon, so we should be good for the betatest period. All of these servers are linux dedicated servers. Special thanks go out to Mourad for the server in Germany and the guys at wakkaservers.com for hosting the US servers, the least we can do is give them some visiblity, so check out their great coming soon page!

As for the actual betatesting, make sure to read our official guide if you haven't already ( there's some finesses in the game that are all explained in the manual ), and go out and have some fun. We'd love to hear your feedback on bugs, gameplay, artwork, balance, anything really. We have two main focuses: search & destroy whatever bugs are left that spoil the fun in the first place, and hear the first actual player feedback on our gameplay so we can tweak where necessary. All feedback should go through our moddb forum - do a quick check to see if you're not reporting eg a duplicate bug and put up a new thread if you found a new bug or want to discuss a new topic.

Be kind and constructive: Off Limits has seen a lot of contributions but has been mostly made by myself and Wesley in our spare time. We've tried to make it the best quality we could, but we know there are areas of improvement. Thanks in advance for helping us finish this game, and we hope you get to have some fun in the process :)

I have a problem with desura, i got an error message when i want to launch the mod: "Desura failed to locate a CD Key, Status All CD keys are in use, please wait for a site administrator to contact you with a key."

Someone can help me please?

"The issue is fixed, just get people to restart the Desura client and run the mod again."

and on steam: could not load library Client... I hope you guys can fix this with Desura...

Sorry for the mixup, if you downloaded the closed beta and had a CD key problem after you accepted the invite please restart your Desura client and run it again.

3 shotgun blasts to the head at point blank doesnt kill someone?

Same person turns around and caps me 2 times with pistol and I'm dead?

Maps look great, gameplay needs a lot work.

Lots of exploits need fixed too;

Nade spamming into spawn does damage, map with spider CP, you can jump on top of heli and stand on top of players spawn, balance issues with weapons need a lot of work.

You have a good base, but I kept asking myself, 'What sets this game apart?. Why would I want to play this game?"

There needs to be something more to it, or more interaction with the juggernaut.

Also I think that objective markers would help on the minimap.

There is a lot of interaction with the juggernaut:
- JN is linked to spawn points (so game play is revolved around him)
- JN health is linked to spawn points (so capturing them gives your teams JN extra health)
- When your JN is killed you loose a spawn point (giving the team that's better a chance to capture your spawn point)
- JN heals you when close to him (the JN can see who needs healing when a team mate is green, so a good JN assists team mates

This game play needs good team play, something that is hard to find on public servers, especially when a game is not even 24 hours released and people are still getting the hang of it and learning the game play.

Also post this on our feedback forum, it's made for this, keeping track of comments as feedback will be hard with time.

Also please read our guide and you might see how much of the game play you missed when you first played it. The guide is also available in-game, open the team "team selection" menu.
