Let's introduce a new Calradia to you.
The year of our Lord, 1423, more than thousand years after the fall of the great Empire. A New Era has begun for Calradia. Scholars have found new ways to gather knowledge, Kings to gain and maintain power, merchants to become richer and influential. The once fearful Khergit Khanate is crumbling. And yet the kingdoms of Calradia are fighting each other, overlooking a greater danger lurking in the East.
The Dark Ages have ended. It's time to enlighten all of us. The Rennaissance has begun! It's a time of rebirth. Classical sources teach us to optimize architecture, art, science, music and let us think out philosophical ideas, views and opinions.
In the last decades the once fearful Nordic Kingdom has fallen apart. Bitterness, wrath and deep religious disunity predominate. Shall one man stand up and unite the Nordic people under one banner, one King and one faith again? Which man is capable and... will it be Christian or Pagan?
Furthermore, an ancient Empire, almost forgotten and doomed to be in an isolated place, the Mithridian Empire is starting to take its last breath. The Great Schism between the Emperor and the Pope, since 1054 an unfortunate fact, has left a legacy of distrust and disapproval. But the Emperor is now in deep need of help from these Western nations. The Muslims are nearly invincible. Shall this once great Empire, once called the Calradic Empire, continue to survive?
Moreover, Sultan Abdulhamid promulgated a decree which forbids every Christian to enter the Holy City of Hierosolyma without permission of the local mayor. This has led to shock and widespread vexation among the Christian world. How will the Pope in Aldurias react to this?
During the early years of this century, rich merchants have resurrected the long forgotten town of Zendar. The Doge leads this Merchant Republic. The harbour of this town is the gateway to the West. Explorers with ships have done the greatest discovery of these times! There is more than Calradia only, there is land in the West! This all has proven Zendar to be one of the prosperous towns on this World!
It is time for you to begin your adventure...
(buried)
Doge :P.
Retard.
HAH, HILARIOUS.
I love this comment
In my mind, I narrated this description with the voice from Medieval Total War 2. Seems fitting.
XD seems i'm not the only one who did that.
Me too!!
Quintillius, first, I understand that you have all the liberty and authority (more than right :P) to think and choose all about the mod. Although I've not played it yet, I'm cheerful and happy about all your progress.
So, by seeing that the focus is realism and as a personal opinion, I'd like to ask: being Calradia a fiction world based on real cultures, historic kingdoms etc why did you choose to add real religions and religious institutions to it, as well as real titles (doge?)? Why not invent those and its mythologies in a plausible way? And why at the same time place an ancient(?) empire (from where?) that easily relates to a fantasy realm? Isn't it suppose to only be the once big Calradic Empire united at the end of warband that scattered again?
I'm asking all these questions because I'm really interested :P. Don't take it too seriously or offensive. Sorry if I made it look like this way. And thank you :)
As far as I know, The Calradic Empire is akin to the Roman Empire in our world. The Calradic Empire is mentioned in vanilla, too. It mentions that the Swadians and Rhodoks were united, and the Nords landed in the North. The Nords, I assume, are similar to the Huns of our world, and the Rhodoks similar to Gallia, and Spain. The Khergits were never in the empire, and neither were the Sarranids, the Sarranids were probably similar to the Parthians, while the Khergits to the "barbarians" in Germania, and the Vaegirs as Scandinavia, Russia, or the Baltics. I'm not the mod creator, so I can't answer the rest of your questions. Maybe he just wants something we can relate too, with the religions and titles?
rather nords be a "barbarians" and Khergits huns, i think
I didn't re-read what I typed...rip. What I meant, is the Nords are similar to the Scandinavians in Denmark and Sweden, and the Khergits to the Huns, and the Vaegirs to just Russia.
the Vaegirs are also similar to Bulgaria
Yeah Nords would be the vikings actually since they have huskarls and wooden buildings with those dragon/serpent carved statues upon the rooftops of their buildings. Rhodoks are like the Scotts/Italians while the Swadians are like France/England mixed. Sarranids are like the middle eastern Sultanate(Saracen like ppl)
No, Swadians have always been Germans. In this mod they're closer to The Holy Roman Empire (considering the time period)

No the Nords are not huns. The Khergits have horse archers which make them like the Mongolians. Huns were the ancestors of the Mongols. Nords are based off of vikings and norsemen. Why else would they have huskarls and nordic like buildings similar to those in Skyrim.
Rhodoks - Italians, you can perceive by the name of the Lords in the native
Nords - Germanic / Vikings, obvious, just see the style of the helmets
Swadians - Mixed kingdoms of central europe, despite the strong tendency of English armors
Khergits - Mixed Eastern Barbarian Peoples, with Mongolian tendency
Sarranids - a mixture of Muslim peoples, such as the name homonymous with the Saracens (name given to Muslims in the Crusades)
Vaegirs - Russians and Baltics perhaps, not Scandinavians, the Nords, in fact they are the Scandinavians

The sarranids are actually the Persians in the calradic empire time and in this mod are the Seljuk turks
Otherwise not bad.
@guest *face palm* dude the "mithradian empire"is wNOT fantasy based, it is entirely based of the Byzantine empire and is the same in all but name and the technical map.
Personally, I don't mind the use of actual real-world religions and titles. The titles because Native used actual titles (kings, emirs, lords, etc.), and religions because those who are actually religious don't want to "subscribe" to a false religion based on their own, and/or it's offensive to their respective prophets/gods (instead of NPCs saying "Jesus Christ" they say "Jarold Christ" or something).
The Mithridian Empire I almost completely agree with (it's based off of the Byzantine Empire), since I don't remember there being islands south of the Rhodoks. Although, I don't mind the Byzantine faction, I'd prefer a Native American faction up north of New Calradia.
Nice story
How about make a civil war with the swadians happen? A King in Uxkhal (aldeburgh) against a King or queen in Praven? And the winner declares the Swadian Empire, and he gets new troops through that? I would really like that.
It sort of saddens me that this mod isn't about the real history of the world. It makes me wonder why choose a fictional setting rather than a more interesting and historical one?
Because what's the point of retelling our own history when you can write the history of your own world?
im just happy
This is absolutely ingenious. I can feel the developer's interest and passion about history and fantasy. I love this mod, and I can't wait for more updates.
The only problem I have with this is that, now that we know more about MnB's past, the 1000-years-ago date doesn't really line up with what we know. It should be more like 400 years.
Hello! First of all, I want to say that this MOD is simply FANTASTIC!
Now, I'd like to ask for help (whom I can).
I downloaded Version 4.1 and put it to run on my PC, the image is very clear, very even and I can not see very well, how can I reduce this brightness, because it is difficult to see even the names? The second question is that the game takes a long time to enter, something of 1hrs only in the initial load, this is due to the fact that my computer has little memory (2Gb RAM, 1.90GHz), or is the game the same?
Thanks to the developers. And thanks to whoever help me!
#Brazil!
I think the brightness is due to the enb. You can disable it by pressing f12 on your keyboard. As for the memory, you definitely need more RAM, I'd say at least 4GB.
É NOZES!
ele demora mesmo, mas o teu o cara já respondeu, Pc novo, valeu me segue lá no tuiiiiteeeerr !
