****************HOW TO ENABLE THE NOD'S REVENGE MOD*************************
****************************************************************************

Use the Nod's Revenge XCC launcher to launch the mod.
This exe file is a "plug-and-play" mod launcher, meaning you don't have to remove any files after you quit in order to play normal Yuri's Revenge again. Simply click the button on the launcher to activate Nod's Revenge.

Also importantly, the "expandmd56" file [provided in the ModDb download] goes in your "RA2" folder.

This mix will not interfere with normal Yuri's Revenge or other mods, as it includes only the custom menu and score music that would not fit in the executable. It also includes the entire RA2 soundtrack which is made availible during gameplay of Nod's Revenge.

If for any reason, you already have a "expandmd56" mix in the folder, simply re-name the one provided with the next availible # (like 57 or 55).

Windows XP computers will sometimes not like this launcher, so XP users please see the "Special Note" below.

---------------------------------------------
A SPECIAL NOTE for Windows XP/Win 7 users:

The BAD news-
There can be a bug with the Mod Launcher that makes it LOOK like your computer is frozen/crashed after you click to start the mod, but...

The GOOD News -
... Its NOT actually broken, and this will only happen the FIRST time you try to launch the mod after you turn your computer on.

HOW to fix it -
If your computer is acting frozen after 10 or 20 seconds after you clicked to launch the mod from the launcher, then ...

1. Hold down "CTRL + ALT + DELETE" to view your computer's Task Manager.

2. After the Task Manager opens, simply select "Yuri's Revenge" (under either applications or processes, I can't remember which) and click "End Task".

If you don't see "Yuri's Revenge" on your list of open applications or processes, then you've opened the Task Manager a few seconds too soon (I've accidently done this many times, since I expect the bug and often preempt it). Your Task Manager window might even act frozen at this point as well. Simply hold down "CTRL + ALT + DELETE" again to re-launch the Task Manager until you see "Yuri's Revenge" and can click "End Task". Note that you only need to end "Yuri" and not the mod launcher or anything else.

3. After clicking through the standard windows messages like "Are you sure you want to end this unresponsive program?" (yes) and "Do you want to send this error report to Windows?" (No ... they can't help with this anyway), then just click the button on the mod launcher to run the mod and you're off to the shooting range!

WHY this happens -

This mod launcher essentially takes all the files needed for the game and temporarily puts them in your "RA2" folder while the game is running and then knows to remove them after you quit the game so that you're not permanantly stuck only playing Nod's Revenge. Pretty cool, huh? The XP operating system doesn't always seem to like this fancy trick, and likes to bug out the FIRST TIME you try to do it ("First time" meaning since the last time you turned on your computer. So this bug will occur each time an XP user tries to run the mod after turning off or restarting their computer.)

Thankfully, even on XP, this mod will launch without a hitch each time after dealing with the bug on that first click after system power-on. This whole mod was made on my old XP computers, so I've been through this bug many times! Its no biggie!

"But, my power went out while playing Nod's Revenge, and now Yuri's revenge always loads like your mod! How can I fix this?"

Because the mod never got the chance to "unpack" since you never actually "Quit" the game, the Mix files are still in your RA2 folder, and so the game is still reading from them as is so faithfully was meant to do.

Simply delete any ".Mix" files that don't have the name "01" or "02" at the end of the name. Such as "expandmd01.mix" (this is for normal Yuri) or "ecachemd01.mix" (this one is, too). The files to remove are named "Expandmd98.mix" and "Ecachemd98.mix".

Any questions, feel free to comment in the forums, send a message, or do more homework online about the XCC mod launcher.
