The Nod's Revenge team wanted to see an "Advanced Infantry" for the UNGDI forces that wasn't as costly as the the RA2 Navy SEALs and could be fielded in greater numbers. We also wanted a cool high-tech unit that would bear the Tiberian Sun trooper voice with pride. The UNGDI Grenadier was our hat-tip to both the old Tiberian Dawn Grenadiers and the Tiberian Sun rifle infantry. The grenadiers fire an advanced auto rifle against infantry and RPGs/Disk Grenades against enemy armor.
