The tyranids, also known as the Great eater — are an extragalactic alien race whose sole goal is to absorb all forms of genetic and biological material for their development and reproduction. Tyranid technology is based entirely on biological engineering. Every function, every task, is performed by living, specially created beings who together form a hive fleet, controlled by a single Hive Mind.
The tyranids are considered the greatest threat to the entire Galaxy. You can't negotiate with them and you can't keep them; the only thing they want is to absorb all organic life. And the most terrible thing is that the hive fleets of the tyranids encountered so far may only be harbingers of the main invasion fleets still sailing through the void of space.
