After about 10 years in development (spare time) you can now test the new renderer for Freelancer in our mod. We currently have a public beta running to find remaining issues. You can find the download in our files section.
Once the testing is complete and the renderer is stable I plan to upload the of tools I wrote, their source code, a description of how to integrate it into your Freelancer mod and what the capabilities of the renderer are (it is a PBR renderer). Also I am thinking about a basic package for vanilla FL where everything is integrated so that you can start modding.

To open the new graphics settings menu press F10 (default key assignment).
Also currently you have to start a new character and it will be deleted in about a week (precaution for testing). After that the old characters are availlable again and you can safely start a new character if you want to.

I installed the mod but i didnt like the auto docking - i find it really immersion-breaking for the ships to just appear in the stations and not go through the docking sequence.
Can release a solo version or if you know what files to edit so i can host one myself that more role play than pvp?

you guys ever gonna make a gundam that is usable by the public? Making it something thats hard to get not easy and make it something worth wild getting?
Like it doesn't have to be the way the admin gundam is set up but seriously you will see alot of anime freaks of gundam flock to you that play Freelancer. Just saying
Well, the easiest way I found to install this is to just extract it from the exe using 7zip (you can probably use any other archiving program as well) and then place it into the mods folder of FLMM, and run it through there.
So, how do you install it? I'm not finding the clean installations it says to choose from.
hey as soon as it leaves the splash screen it crashes. why? and how do i fix it
Try disabling bloom, deleting/moving all savegames or if that does not help reinstall Freelancer and then the mod, since it is also a sign that the Freelancer installation was not clean.
maybe someone will someday tell us how to install it
the setup obviously cant recognise a clean installation of freelancer

It would be easier for us if you would give more details about your freelancer version. Since most our players use the English or German version it only was tested with installations from those.
