Late in WW2, the allies were alone in the sky, and did amazing camos like this one: some olds B24 were specially equipped to help massive bomber formations. Known as "Assembly or Formation Ships," they were equipped with signal lighting, pyrotechnics and receive a distinctive individual paint scheme psychedelic striped, checkered or dots to enable them to be easily recognized by their group bombers.
