The New Jedi Order Compilation mod is a total conversion for Thrawn's Revenge, based on the Yuuzhan Vong War, New Jedi Order era and the Expanded Universe.
The current release includes the Yuuzhan Vong, the New Republic, the Imperial Remnant, new GCs, ships, story events, heroes and lots of new content.
The next release will include the reworked and dramatically expanded three main playable factions, several new non-playable minor factions, many new subfactions, a localised build system, a new era/tech system, many more new ships, characters, and maps, and six playable Galactic Conquests.
I take no credit for any of the models used. My sincere thanks to other modders who have shared their assets with me and made all of this possible - especially the Imperial Civil War team.
Like Imperial Civil War, the New Republic has an era system instead of a conventional tech system.
Unlike ICW, the New Republic advances tech depending on how far the Yuuzhan Vong have advanced in their invasion of the Galaxy, rather than through who the enemy leader is.
To access the core New Republic ship roster on a planet you need to build the 'New Republic Membership' structure. Native units can be accessed without this ground building.
Era 1 - T65 X-wing, A-wing, GR-75 (fleet tender), Balrus, Nebulon-B, Neutron Star, Assault Frigate, Republic-class Star Destroyer
Era 2 - A-wing, E-wing, K-wing, Sacheen, Ranger, Corona, Hajen, Majestic, MC90, Nebula, Endurance
Era 3 - XJ X-wing, E-wing, K-wing, Sacheen, Ranger, Corona, Hajen, Majestic, Nebula, Endurance, Strident, Mediator
Era 4 - XJ2 X-wing, K-wing, Ranger, Corona, Hajen, Republic-class cruiser, Majestic, Strident, Mon Mothma-class ISD, Mediator
Era 5 - K-wing, XJ3 X-wing, Balrus, Ranger, Corona, Hajen, Republic-class cruiser, Rejuvenator, Strident, Mon Motham-class ISD, Mediator
Era changes are usually triggered when the Vong capture a specific planet. The only exception is Era 1 -> Era 2 progression, which is developed by researching the 'New Class Modernization Programme'.
Era 2 -> Era 3 (when Ithor is lost), Era 3 -> Era 4 (when Fondor is lost), Era 4 -> Era 5 (when Coruscant is lost).
Era progression allows both the New Republic and the Vong to deploy more advanced warships. The only trade-off is that they are higher-end, more modern, effective and therefore more expensive than lower-era ships.
The core rosters are relatively small - this is because the New Republic has access to a huge range of subfactions in addition to their core tech (including, GC-depending, the Hapans, Corellians, Mon Calamari, Bothans, Sullustans, Bakurans, New Jedi Order, Smugglers' Alliance, Alderaan survivors, Imperial Remnant) and shipyards which have their own extra designs in addition to their own indigenous ships and the NR core designs (such as Kuat, Fondor, Bilbringi, Sluis Van, Hast).
In addition, era progression also unlocks (and locks) certain indigenous units. The Mon Calamari, for instance, lose the MC80 variants and gain access to the MC80B and Viscount, while the Corellians lose the old CR90 when the Ranger comes into service, but gain a powerful anti-fighter frigate and larger warships like the Strident.
I've worked carefully on the balancing since the last release, and incorporated the feedback I've received from the community.
In 1v1 battles the Yuuzhan Vong's analogues easily defeat their New Republic (or Imperial) equivalents at the early eras. By era 3/4 they reach parity, and by era 5 the New Republic is fielding more powerful designs than the Vong equivalents - the Rejuvenator-class Star Destroyer is particularly powerful.
The simplest measure of the new balancing is by comparing the standard X-wing model v the Coralskipper at each era. The Skip defeats the T-65 relatively easily 1 v 1, it is superior to the XJ, equal to the XJ2, and outmatched by the XJ3 when the New Republic reach era 5 and can start deploying them.
