Fast close to the wind: yes. Against the wind: no. Although we managed to make her appear sort-of steampowered, the game code understands only sail-powered ships.

Blackbeard, steam frigates are actually fairly appropriate for the time period. The first steam frigates were made in the early 1800's, and the first steamships in the late 1700's. In Jack Aubrey's time, for example, they would be very rare, but existing.
