Neptune is a single-player modification for Half-Life 2, taking place entirely outside the mother game's universe. Set primarily onboard a mysterious and desolate cruise liner, floating in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, Neptune allows the player to slowly unravel the dark and disturbing past of the ship as he/she explores its once-grand rooms, corridors, concert halls, restaurants, bars and maintenance areas. Taking influence from games such as System Shock 2, BioShock, Thief: Deadly Shadows and Silent Hill, Neptune is an atmospheric, narrative-driven, horror-based shooter; an exercise in videogame storytelling and tense level design. It is expected to be released in Q3 2009.
Love the atmosphere!
The white thing, is it a bed or something else. Also the carpet-tile transition looks so weird. Also this mod would look so much better with even more custom textures and models.
The 'white thing' is a table, with tablecloth.
We're working hard to create new art content where appropriate, but not for the sake of it. Funnily enough, in this particular shot, only the wood textures, the glass texture and the tile textures are existing HL2 ones. The rest is new content, and I'm not sure how the shot could benefit from adding even more new artwork that wouldn't be appropriate in this area.
I wonder if people just expect a load of new content to be thrown in. What I love about the concept of SP mods is that you can focus so much more on the experience as a whole, without worrying about building all the content for yourself.
It's like being given a load of Plasticine and being told "BUILD!" - it'd be rubbish if you had to make the Plasticine yourself.
Just add some wrinkles and it'll be ok.
Its just nice to see some new content is all. :)
No idea what everyone is complaining about, this looks fantastic. It's amazing to see a mod that isn't just "Half Life in a different location".
Nice work, I'll definitely be adding this mod to my watch list.
Very nice.
Nice, you can almost hear a skipping gramophone playing in the background :P
Though a lot of original HL2 content is being used, it's being utilised well. This mod is using these tired old graphics in a way that takes them out of their original context, giving them new life.
