This zombie has very special capacities and can mindcontrol
a survivor...
The mindcontroled survivor becomes an enemy and will attack other survivors as an infected.
Others survivors will need to incapacitate him or kill the Brainer to stop the mind attack
The Brainer can't mind attack more than one survivor at a time...
He also have colored floating particles around him (like the smoker)so he can be detected more easily...

But I think generally a player, not being able to controll his/her character is frustrating, so I suggest you ad some reaction time, like in the smoker's case. And why does the concept says "Cleaner non infected enemy"?

I imagine that we need to swap betwen player control and zombie IA :/
About the gameplay ; that's a good idea...but i think that will let time to alert other survivors and it will break the surprise effect...
The brainer has no melee attack....no arms ;))

What about some kinda overlay or something that the player could view when the controlled body was attacking, (in first person) and, idk, maybe by clicking or pressing some key quickly the survivor would try to fight against the mindcontrol and could control himself for a few seconds, or something.

Yeah, thats a cool idea, (and maybe the brain should have some tough skin, or something (that would make him possible to at least get more than one headshot :P) Don't know, like if he evolved or adapted the enviroment, or such.
As for the mind control.. you could have it so that, the person he attacks lets out a groan of some sort, alerting the other survivors, while giving them a chance to melee the person who is about to be "mind controlled" IE Hitting your friends snaps em out of the mind controlling...

Maybe its attack could screw up the players vision so that all he sees is zombies? That would account for why he'd fire at his teammates, he'd have no idea who was what.

If coding mindcontrol is too difficult, this may a good way
to kepp the concept with maybe easier coding :)
I thought about orange color particles (like the green particles of the smoker) surrounding the possessed survivor and orange eyes...that should alert the others survivors...
After a few seconds, the mindcontrolled attack like a standard zombie but cause damage like a hunter...
Reminds me of S.t.a.l.k.e.r. concepts

I'm pretty sure smarter people/developers thought
about monsters design like this one a long time before I did...
Anyway, I think such a concept can fit L4D gameplay...

That is the best idea for a special infected I have ever heard of before in my opinion. And if the survivor is freindless the Brainer can controll him into comiting suicide which really amps up team-mate dependancy.
what does the Brainer do? and how is it not infected?

actually it should be "control a survivor for 10-15 secs" and not that survivors have to kill him first, Because if the brainer can't be found anywhere or jumped from a roof where the survivors cannot come... the survivor can't be saved
Maybe the controlled survivor would first act as he has something inside his head that hurts. You know like holding the head with the hands, shaking it, screaming, and then a few seconds after that he looks up with the glowing eyes and attacks the closest person. Kill the controller before the survivor is fully, ehm, possessed.
Maybe it wpold be helpfull if the mindcontrolled person and the brainer were connected by some kind of lightly glowing line. Which would beginn at the brainers head and end at the sourvivors head, following some curved line, for example.
It would help to spot the brainer and indicate who is controlled by the brainer.
On the other hand you could give the brainer the ability to camuflage or stealth himself. So the "mindcontrol line" ... the first I could think about ... would be the only thing which would lead to the brainer, which would make him at first a very dangerous enemy, but think of his weakness against physical attacks.
Dangerous because he is hard to spot, but easy to kill.
Also the brainer should need intervisibility to start mindcontrol. But afterwards is possible to move around, in some kind of area.
Another thought I got was, the brainer should be visible as long as he hasn't established mindcontroll. Only after an completed mindcontrol, which should take 3-5 seconds to establish (during this time, the victim should move slower, and his sight should blur, like when beeing puked on by a boomer), the brainer should be able to become invisible, and the glowwing "mindcontrol line" from brainer to victim (survivor) should be the only think which leads to the brainer.
Like the tongue of a smoker for example.
