Why is the flame canister visible in one but covered in the other?
the roller on the front look very flat because it is just a texture modeling it will madly increase the polycount and it wont be noticeable except at the nearest camera ,for the flame canister it is not the only thing that is covered ,but the vision camer and the flame guns as well that is because it is the subterrain mood to reduce the fractions with the body that my damage the flame tank
the texture on the crasher no good. actually if the polygons can spared, give it those tiny triangle that normally used for teeth or something in your scenario, if that means crashing the game then do something like what the Doom3 people have done, make a thin rectangle for each "sets" of teeth and use opacity mapping in conjunction, i think that might work.

No, I think one is just it moving, one ready to fire. Notice on the close one on the side, a small side gun, which is hidden in the far one.
