Millennium A.D. is a faction mod for the open-source game 0 A.D by Wildfire Games. The project will be divided into two parts, and aims to bring prominent factions that existed worldwide (between 500-1000 A.D. and 1000-1500 A.D. timeframes, respectively) into the game.

Are the hoods cloth too or are they mail ?

Interesting; are these only worn separately or are they worn under mail too (Wearing mail over your bare head would not do much against blunt force and also be uncomfortable) ?
Also is the 3rd guy left-to-right (The one with stripped pants and a shield with black swirls) wearing a mail hauberk or is it just another type of padding ?
Chain mail could be worn underneath it but commonly, depictions and reconstructions often depict padded coifs being worn solely.
Yes that is a shorter variant of the chain mail armor worn above padded clothing.
I was referring to mail being worn over the padded coif not under it.
For a moment i thought that rightmost guy was wearing lamellar armour (Wich was more of a Rus/varangian thing; and probably acquired from byzantium, the middle east or eastern europe).
Yes, that is a possibility. :)
We do have lamellar armor in the game for the Byzantine units, especially the Varangian guard. It is chain mail, If you would view the full size of the image (view original button)
