Brief summary on how to create and maintain MMH55 translation

Create MMHH55 translation package

To have a MMH55 mod in-game translation, the following requirements should be met:

  • Original ToTe is translated - For ToTe you can check for existing translations here. If such exists, get the file and continue with the next point. If it does not - a translation for the game should be done first.
    • Go to /data folder and copy texts.pak to a separate directory.
    • Unpack it and translate the contents of every file.
    • Zip back the modified files into a .pak archive.
    • Place it in /Data folder and test it in game.
  • MMH55 mod is translated - Unless you find an up to date translation here a new one should be created.
    • Go to /Data and copy file called MMH55-EN-Texts.pak to a separate directory.
    • Unpack it and translate the contents of every file.
    • Zip back the modified files into a MMH55-XX-Texts.pak archive. Where XX is the 2-letter country code of the language.
    • Place it in /Data folder and test it in game.
    • Send this translation back to us so we can upload it on Moddb
  • Test the translation
    • Archive back the folder with edited files in ZIP
    • change the extension of the file from .zip to .pak
    • put the new file in DATA folder
    • start the game and test

Some translation tips:

  • Game replaces pyramid brackets with dynamic data as skills value or damage size, so do not translate the brackets' contents (<colour=blue>, etc..).
  • Do not add or remove any new lines. If the text is written in one line, keep it that way.
  • Do not change file or folder names otherwise engine wont find them
  • If translated language require additional fonts, check this guide on how to use them.

Update MMHH55 translation package

New version of the mod is out which probably includes new texts or changes?

  • Check the release notes here. Usually most of the text changes are mentioned.
  • Install the latest version (for example RC11) of the mod and get the MMH55-EN-Texts.pak and extract it to a folder.
  • Check the date of the previous (for example RC10 Beta 4) released version of the mod.
  • Open the extracted directory and sort the contents by modified date. If there are folders that have later modified date than the one noted on the previous release, it means some files were changed. Browse through those directory, find and translate the files.
  • Download the latest available translation of the MMH55, extract it and merge the translated files.
  • Zip back the modified files into a MMH55-XX-Texts.pak archive. Where XX is the 2-letter country code of the language
  • Place it in /Data folder and test it in game.
  • Send this translation back to us so we can upload it on Moddb

(OPTIONAL) Skillwheel translation

We have created some automation scripts that extract texts directly from the game so if ToTe and MMH55 translations exists there is very little work to be done in order to have the Skillwheel application translated.

Please let us know if you find any issues with the guide itself so we can make it more clear.

Regards,
The MMH55 Team
