Based on a real place, this mod for the Source engine
is played on an abandoned industrial complex & school, and some other places i might add.
Explore it freely, with a loose story.

This mod requires "Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer".
It is extremely optimized to monitors with 16:9.

Remember, this mod is mostly about exploring, so don't get stuck in an elevator for five minutes if you don't know what to do, explore the areas for solutions to progress the game.
There are a lot of details, so do check every cranny! Though, not everything has a point.

The gas can be turned off. You'll know what it means when you get there.

I made this mod based on an adventure I did 11 years ago, and Source 1 was still fun to work with. I had fun with a gmod server for a few years, but the old toolset and engine was just too painful to work with.

I'm currently poking around in s&box, who knows what'll come out of it. The original mod is however fully dead. With all the flaws of the original mod, I think I've learnt a thing or two about game design. Maybe I'll even stop making multiple obscure easter eggs that nobody has found 10 years later, hm?

This is a closure of sorts. You can keep in contact with my community at the Braxnet Discord server: Discord.gg if you want to see what I'm currently up to. Most of my free time right now is spent on Braxnet Online 2, an MMO of sorts, inspired by gmod tower and gta online.

im a non steam player of HalfLife 2 and when i Lunch the game i got into the loading screen of the game and then it CRASHED And it says about Engine

"Midgaard" -- which I assume translates from German to English as "Middle Guard" (I'm no expert in the 'Deutsche' language, admittedly)...is a unique and fairly original HL2 mod.

There are no weapons available in this mod.....this mod takes place entirely at night, and is purely 'exploratory'. You are accompanied by a 'crony' at the beginning of this mod and are equipped with only a flashlight throughout.

At the very beginning -- you drive 'shotgun' with your 'crony' from your residence....to a seemingly recently abandoned plaza of sorts that consists of a cafe, a school.....and other diverse types of buildings as well as a junkyard. Once you enter the main 'Midgaard' building, you begin to see ghostly apparitions...and every now and then solid floors that you walk on completely crumble away... and you fall into deep crevasses and pools, etc....and at other times whilst exploring 'Midgaard' you are abruptly transported from Midgaard to other building locales -perhaps some very distant.

The ambience isn't the very creepiest I have ever experienced in a HL2 mod, but it is fairly creepy....and the mod is pretty long and feels very professionally made.

The ending is pretty 'anti-climactic' however.....you are eventually 'transported' back to your room where you began from.

I rate "Midgaard" an 8/10.

Download SDK Source BASE, depends what game engine you like to use. Half Life 1/ Half Life 2/ ep 1 or ep 2 ?? Then open HAMMER engine and start making a game. If you not sure how to use HAMMER , u have a tons of videos on Youtube...

Thanks for this mod. It has been a challenge.
One thing I did notice is that in the alleyway near
the containers and past where you can see one of the
'spirits' (?) behind an iron fence, there is a set of
glass doors with a sign that reads 'under konstruktion'.
I have not figured out a way to smash the glass, since my
friend has the crowbar. So, I used noclip to look inside to
see if there is anything there. There is. Another map loads.
But I don't see anyway to open the doors or break the
glass, ever though I've played it on a number of occasions.

Any hints ?
