One does not simply give a mans task to a boy. I will defend it with my life, and hopefully see Gandalf and the riders of Rohan

the stone textures :/ can we get some new ones please? the mapping does not look very good on some, and its a little flat imo.

keep up the good work, choose to ignore me if you wish :)

We are still tweaking the color, so the texture itself will improve as we go. We just put this on to get an idea of the color. We have already tweaked it some more.

A desktop would do a far better job. You could build one capable of playing Skyrim and MERP for £500 easy.

Hah, I was just about to say the opposite! I've always imagined dirt around Helms Deep. How did it look in the movies?

Reply Good karma Bad karma+2 votes
Anglachel
Anglachel - - 522 comments

There was a lot of dirt in the movies, but that was because it was raining and tenthousand orcs just marched through it... Actually I don't see a reason why the landscape can't just be alike to the rest of Rohan's landscape (which I guess it is now).

Yeah thats reasonable, but hopefully it will look more dirty during the battle. Would be a bit silly watching lethal uruks slaying and running across green fields! :P

Anglachel

I'm hoping all you'll see are ranks upon ranks of Uruk-hai so that you won't even see the ground :) On a sidenote I don't really give a damn what the ground looks like. All that matters for me is that the battle will be fought at night and that a storm will accompany the enemy host (and that a forest of Huorns will have magically appeared the next day ;) ).

@MysticalCharizard: There aren't houses in the fortress. Probably just living quarters and tents behind the walls. And considering its a fortress meant only as a form of defense, I'd say that Helm's Deep is reserved to military-only (in the books, the Rohirrim peasants that don't fight go to Dunharrow to protect themselves, not the Glittering Caves behind Helm's Deep, before the Battle of the Hornburg begins)
