A mod adding numerous features from the MMOFPS Planetside 2 by Daybreak Game Company
This is another prop I'm squeezing into the next update, Barrier Shields. They're basically walls but both infantry and vehicles can move through them whilst small arms and HE shells can't. AP shells can still pierce through it though. They're transparent like the shields included on the mana turrets so infantry can notice each other through it but shouldn't spray blindly at it and will go through the shield in order to attack (at least in most of the tests I've done so far) Each faction will get their own design and the emitters you see on each side are separate entities that can be placed at will.
Well this was unexpected, but certainly welcome.
Not to be pushy, but how difficult do you think it'd be to implement the Xiphos, Spear and Phalanx turrets for base defense scenarios?
I haven't started trying to work on them yet but I'm hoping it should be fairly simple. Now that I've done both vehicles and stationary cannons I should be able to sort of mix the two together in order to create the facility turrets.
Awesome. Also, how did you learn to edit things, and to move them from PS2 assets to MOWAS2 assets? If you could give me the names of the programs you use I might be able to help with community requested stuff while you do the essentials that you already have planned out.
I mainly got to the point I am now through trial and error, along with a lot of help from other modders and especially example packs that I can open in modelling software and either copy or adapt to the Planetside models.
To get the Planetside assets I use a software called ps2ls, it's a free little application you can find as pretty much the top result on good that lets you open Ps2 pack files and give you a preview of each model you click so you know what to grab.
For modelling I use 3ds MAX 2014 version. You can get it for free by signing up for a student copy. I also use GIMP photo editor when messing around with textures.
Feel free to send me a pm if you want to know some more.
Ohhh autodesk? Ew
The only experience I have with that was an engineering class, we used Inventor and boy was that fun.
I'm already pretty familiar with Gimp, I have to use that to insert images into my java programs.
I specifically went for 3ds max because of the plugin that exports stuff pretty much in ready condition for MoW and I'm too used to it now to bother switching to anything else
