MEHEM is a reinterpretation of the endings of Mass Effect 3, which allows Commander Shepard to survive the final mission, among many other changes. It features custom videos and slides, re-engineered gameflow, original as well as re-arranged voice acting, new music, etc.

Description

This is the installer for MEHEM v0.4. This is an old version and we recommend using v0.5 instead. Simply download and extract the archive and run mehem04.exe. Readme files and an uninstaller, which will set Mass Effect 3 back to it's original state are included. In case of problems or for further information, please check the MEHEM thread on BSN.

Yes, if you're getting that error, you'll have to create a free account here in MODDB to have access to the download mirror, otherwise that error will keep showing.

I've just finished my playthrough with MEHEM v0.4 (first time with such mod), which was done with high score.
A quick personal review of it (or my atempt to)...

If you too are one of the many ME fans that didn't like the end of the trilogy, that only now got to know about MEHEM, I would definitely say to give it a go - in fact, nothing to lose here (if you end up disliking it, uninstal the mod and the ending(s) revert to what it was before).

This newer version has received quite a bit more polish and attention to detail all around, and it's getting to that point where things rarely feel detached to the rest of the game (it all fits right in), which is great.
There are very nice "extra" additions to complement it, in the form of email messages to Shepard and other nice touches (new animations are quite nice).

With that said, not all is perfect (but then nothing is)...
There are some character lip-synch, model animations and audio small issues that, here and there, may feel a little rough and unpolished to some. But then, since all these have considerable complexity involved, it is understandable, therefore excusable.

The only really negative point is, IMHO, not having a solution to keep the original music.
We are spoiled with a nice choice of two different alternative ending and credits music, but not the third (obvious?) choice of keeping the original music.
I understand that there was a major effort to deliver this with tremendous level of quality, but it feels somewhat forced.
It may be a matter of personal tastes perhaps but, for myself, nothing will ever beat the original ending score by Faunts ("Das Malefitz") which at least had brought back that same tone found in their fantastic ME1 ending song "M4 Part 2" (personal fav). I sorely miss that.

All in all, it's a top mod for ME3, and a well recommended one for reasons already listed.
Very good work, everyone involved. :-)

You can install the mod whenever you like. The only requirement is that for the Shepard you are using, the Extended Cut DLC was already installed by the time you started the Cronos Station/Cerberus HQ mission. If that was the case, it's ok to install the mod and load a save even right before the ending starts.

What an awesome mod. There just in no other way to express that. I respect BioWare's decision to go with the endings they did, but I sure wish that they did understand that with everyone being so invested in Shepard, him/her actually beating the Reapers and living to enjoy it, NEEDED to be included in the game endings.

And you know...I just finished my latest playthru. I downloaded vers. 0.3 for it. I played, and was coming here to comment on it. NOW I see a ver. 0.4... :-) Just gives me reason to play ME3 again. Thanks for keeping the game alive! Any chance that your team will be adding more to the game? I was disappointed that we didn't get to see more of Noveria, for instance. Or maybe a trip back to Feros?

No matter what does or does not happen in the future with this mod...Thanks for the time and work you guys put into it. It's greatly improved the ending of the game.

does this conflict with levithan dlc?
I.ve seen a file MEHEMv0_1 - Leviathan_Fix.rar
The archive also contains the fix to work and fashion with DLC «Leviathan"
(from russian site masseffectuniverse)

The installer automatically detects whether you got Leviathan installed, and will apply the fix itself as needed.

If you prefer to go the manual route, you can find the files for that here:

Perhaps a stupid question, but is it a problem if I instal it during game without need to play from start?

You can install the mod whenever you like without problems.
The only thing you need is a savegame for which the extended cut DLC was already installed by the time you started the Cronos Station/Cerberus HQ mission (obviously, if you use a savegame from before that it's fine as well).
If you don't have one, just play through the original ending once. This will reset your game to a point just before the Cerberus HQ mission and you can play with the mod from there.

I played through the MEHEM mod for Mass Effect 3, and I've seen it on YouTube. I just wanted to say: thanks. While I didn't hate the director's cut endings, I didn't love them either, and I felt they really needed a few more rewrites. As far as I'm concerned, your ending is the most satisfactory to date.

Question, do I HAVE to play a shep that has access to the Cerberus HQ mission, or can I start a new ME3 game and still use the MEHEM?

You can install MEHEM whenever you want. In fact, it is better to install it early (before you start a new game) since you will get a few new emails throughout the game.

Does MEHEM conflict with New Game + option? For some reason after beating the game with both MEHEM and Extended Cut installed New Game + option doesn't appear in the New Game menu. Is it MEHEM issue, or can it be caused by fact I use custom Femshep with custom haircut and imported headmorph?

Oh, and by the way - out of curiosity I checked my save folder and I see NewGamePlusSave sitting in there. The only question is why this little ****** doesn't work.

As far as I know, in order to have the option for NewGame+ you need to have a "LegendSave"in you savegame folder. Once you actually choose to re-import that character the NewGamePlusSave should be created (at least this is what I read on BSN). MEHEM should not interfere with creating the LegendSave (I know that the "function" to create it is still there) and I have heard of people who could start NewGame+ after playing through MEHEM. The LegendSave is created after the stargazer scene, so make sure you sit through the entire ending.
All that said, it is always possible that some weird combination of factors may cause a bug. The only way to find out for sure is to uninstall MEHEM, sit through the original ending once and see if NG+ is available after that. I will check this before releasing v0.5 and fix it if it is a MEHEM bug but if you want to try it sooner, please let me know what you find. Thanks!

Just wanted to mention that I love this mod, but had the same issue. I had to sit through the original end in order to get it to work for the new game option.

You can also try the following with me3 save editor - link to that here: Moddb.com

With that editor, select the career with which you ran MEHEM and select the "newgameplus.save". There go into the Raw-tab and set the end-game state to "Lived to fight again". Then, start up the game and the save should be available for import. Can confirm that this worked with MEHEM 0.4 on my end, at least.

There is now a fix for this issue but yu need to apply it before playing through MEHEM (obviously).

This fix will of course be in the next version by default. Again, sorry for the bug.

You mean to say you had MEEM installed prior to this? Do you have a back-up of the game's files their state prior to installing that? If so, move those back into place.

If not, I would suggest you revert the Extended Cut and Leviathan - should you have that - to their original state, as well as any main-game files that may be affected in the BIOGame and Movies-folder. To do that, delete the EC's default.sfar found in Mass Effect 3's install directory within BIOGame/DLC/DLC_CON_END/CookedPCConsole/, do the same for Leviathan's default.sfar found in BIOGame/DLC/DLC_EXP_Pack001/CookedPCConsole/.
For main-game files that need replacing, you can check the MEEM's files as to which it replaces and likewise delete those. You can find those here:
Nexusmods.com?

For MEHEM, check the manual installation for which files are replaced by the mod in the main-game, outside the DLC. You can download the manual files here:
Adrive.com

Then, having done that, repair the game through Origin, and repair Extended Cut and Leviathan separately, one after the other. After that, you should be good to go to retry installation. If you wish to stick with the manual method rather than the setup, simply follow Fob's instruction that come with it, and you are set.

Hope this helps.

The problem I'm having is that When I finish an ME 3 playthrough with version 0.4 installed, when I try to run through it again, I'm not able to find it listed. I used to be able to do it with 0.3, but not since I installed the new one. Maybe there's something I'm missing, but this seems to be the only thing that changed.

Yea, I am afraid there is bug in v0.4, which prevents NG+. Sorry about that. You can download a fix here:

I tried that, but when I went to use the fix, I couldn't find the DLC folders... In fact, I did a search for Default.sfar and *.sfar and came up with nothing. Origin doesn't have anything to do with it, does it?

The files must be somewhere because ME3 wouldn't run without them. Are you sure you looked on the right drive? Also, you can try and use ME3Explorer's "Show known Path" option in the "Options" menu (you need the latest version of ME3Explorer for that).

Oh, I am sorry to hear that. Due to the way ME3 is set up, the potential for bugs is rather high I am afraid, especially if you are trying to run MEHEM in conjunction with other mods. Please have a look at these FAQs:
Wavion.info
and
Me3explorer.freeforums.org

If none of the proposed solutions there help, please let me know. Thanks.

Are you saying that you can't decompress the downloaded file? It's just a zip file so even Windows should be able to handle it. Otherwise, try winrar (it's free). If that doesn't work, I guess your download must have been corrupted, maybe try downloading it again.

Hi, I'll answer you and the guest above in this post (you may be the same person anyway :)).

Please click on the details button to see why the installation failed.
If you want to run MEHEM with other mods (like texture mods or Thane mod) you need to install MEHEM first on a vanilla game.
Also, before installing any mods, make sure Origin's game auto update feature is disabled (in the Origin application settings).
Please see the following FAQs for further information:
Wavion.info
and
Me3explorer.freeforums.org

Yep, that should work. Just follow the instructions. In order to be absolutely sure, uninstall the game first, then manually delete the main game folder (NOT the one in "Your Documents" with your saves but the one with the actual game files). This shouldn't be necessary but just to make sure. Then trun off the update function (see above), then re-install the game. Then install MEHEM and CEM. Then install Thane MOD.
