Non-mandatory tool that randomly modify sector backgrounds and suns from a predefined list. Please read the full instructions.
This pack contains a tool I've used for a long time. When you open it, it will ask you to select x3_universe.xml, which is located into X3\addon\maps. Then it will read two lists, "custom_backgrounds.txt" and "custom_suns.txt", and will modify your universe accordingly. "custom_backgrounds" contains a list of background IDs, and "custom_suns" contains a list of sun IDs, plus the ambient color that must be applied to the sector (RGB integer).
Using it as is without modifying the lists can be used to change the flavor of your universe. It only affects new games though (E/I included).
Note that if you want a background or a sun to be kept untouched, you need to add yuiu="0" on the respective line (see the default x3_universe to see how it works).
Both lists only work for Mayhem 2.5.0+. If you want to use this tool for another mod, it's possible, but you'll need to modify the lists.
This tool can be installed anywhere.
Great !!
1.3 also replaces the gates from the Omicron channel by normal or trans-orbital ones.
This file makes everything Unjumpable if you change the gates. I can't open any sector in the game to jump to. Made me reinstall the game 10 times thinking it's an LU issue. I love it! <3
Trans-orbital gates are unjumpable. That's why the description says: "From 1.2, you now have the possibility of replacing normal gates by Trans-Orbital ones, which are not jumpable."
That's the whole point :)
Could it be possible to add an option to add the gates and still jump? I enjoyed playing without jumpgates but sadly the game becomes too difficult to nagivate since jump beacons are so damn expensive and rare.
You cannot convert Trans-orbital gates to normal gates if that's what you're asking.
Oh, that's a shame. I like these gate models.
Now you can have just the models if you want: Moddb.com
Removed the Trans-orbital gates feature. This causes problems with vanilla scripts, and the game doesn't like un-jumpable sectors.
You are one awesome modder. Thank you!
