A more tactical version of classic Max Payne, mostly for advanced players while still utilizing the scaling difficulty system.
Decided to play MP1 again this year and did some minor tweaks, and added a separate mod file with more bullet time and ammo for fun.
I did away with the widescreen version because it didn't work that well in my opinion / we can do without, and if I end up experimenting more with camera it would be too much work so no.
Update 04/22/2020:
Version 1.02.1
-Fixed Ingram & Ingram Dual sound effects
Version 1.02
-Includes a relaxed version with more bullet time and ammo
-Deleted the broken Beretta sound
-Ingram is more balanced now
-Headshots are a little more effective
-Discontinued experimenting with widescreen resolution
How to play:
-Insert the "tactical_102.mpm" and "tactical_102_relaxed.mpm" files to your
Max Payne directory, choose the correct version for you on the "Choose customized

Is there a version of this without the pills crosshair or some way to remove that?
Nice job. Will be using this as my default way to play from now on. The only thing it needs for basic necessary completion is the ability to at least be able to change over the shoulder view from left to right at will with a designated key just like in Splinter Cell Chaos Theory. That would make it perfect. I have a way of playing to make it work to get around this right now so that the game is still playable, but that would be perfect and would make it so much more enjoyable and complete for its purpose.
I ran some tests and it is possible to replace sniper zoom with swapping to the other shoulder, also tried adding a small zoom like aiming down the sights. It may not be that dynamic or pretty, but I will experiment some more.
The camera mode as it is relies on Max being right-handed and positioning himself according to that while taking cover. It takes some time to get used to but it actually makes sense compared to real life.
Would have been awesome, if not for that terrible camera. Over the shoulder view is the cancer stemming from low fov of console games.
How do you mod the game to set Max's Health settings like how much health he loses before he limps also how do you turn on pain animations for Max Payne
You could start by finding the mod tools, then extracting and researching a mod someone else has made while comparing it to the original database.
