Master Sword, a first-person MPORPG mod for Half-Life, was first created in 1998 by Dogg and Evaan. For over a decade now, dozens of developers have come and gone, contributing to and expanding the project. When Steam came about, the game looked doomed. But then, in 2005, Kuroneko combined forces with several members of the original team, as well as many new ones, and managed to update it for use with Gabe Newell's new beast, giving the game a full makeover in the process. Since 2005, we've gone from 11 maps, to over 50, from two spells to over twenty, from a dozen weapons to nearly a hundred, and added litteraly thousands of monsters, NPCs, quests, and features.

Greetings moddb readers!

The september release's main function is to allow for two new maps - Port Ara by J and Chapel by CSS. These maps are designed for mid level players and low level (starting) players, respectively.

Along with that update, there have been a few new items added. These items include some new arrows, armors, and helmets. There are also a few new toys for our mappers, which allow them to further customize the monsters in thier map, by multiplying thier HP and damage rates.

The september patch may be downloaded from the following locations -

That is all...For the September patch...But wait, there's more! I've noticed that ModDB did not recieve the update for August, so here goes on the recap for August!

Bludgeon Final

As of August, the Bludgeon we showed you months ago is finally skinned, animated, and scripted into the game!

August brought us some new maps, P|Barnum's castle map, Cleicert by Dridje, and Replica's Skycastle remake (which has now replaced the original skycastle, by Crow). This means new items, along with the return of loot from Skycastle!

August also brought us a whole slew of new monsters, including the elementally themed animated armors for P|Barnum's castle map, bosses, and some new lightning themed monsters for Dridje's Cleicert.

And of course, the most notable change...One of the ancient bugs of Master Sword has been fixed.

This particular bug was causing players above level 26 or so to see thier XP % as 100%, even though it may actually be nowhere near there. Players will now see the correct % XP, along with the numerical value of XP required for the next level - you can also change the display with a cvar "ms_xpdisplay [0-4]".
