Master Sword, a first-person MPORPG mod for Half-Life, was first created in 1998 by Dogg and Evaan. For over a decade now, dozens of developers have come and gone, contributing to and expanding the project. When Steam came about, the game looked doomed. But then, in 2005, Kuroneko combined forces with several members of the original team, as well as many new ones, and managed to update it for use with Gabe Newell's new beast, giving the game a full makeover in the process. Since 2005, we've gone from 11 maps, to over 50, from two spells to over twenty, from a dozen weapons to nearly a hundred, and added litteraly thousands of monsters, NPCs, quests, and features.

After a little over a month with no updates, we're back with a pretty big one, and this time we decided to share it with ModDB!

This patch includes -

  • Countless minor bugfixes
  • A new AI for orcs and Guards
  • Tons of new items, including immunity potions and new spells!
  • About 20 new monsters/npc's
  • Support for the new maps "The frozen summit" (by Avoozl) and "The forgotten outpost" (by evil squirrel)
  • Fixed 0x0x0 bug
  • And much more! (I cant spoil the fun of finding all the new things here ;))

Ah - And I've almost forgotten to introduce myself! I'm evil squirrel, not the mod leader (just the moddb junkie and mapper). The original team of Master Sword: Continued has decided to move to the source engine, and they handed the source for the Half-Life 1 version of the mod over to "Thothie". Thothie is continuing the development of Master Sword: Continued (HL1) with the help of the community...

Oh, and one last thing...THERE WILL BE NO CHARACTER WIPE - Thothie.

congradulations on release, the entire idea is neat and I like all the side quests, albiet a bit buggy (had to look up wiki and some forums to figure out how to get around some rather annoying issues).

Hopefully more artists will contribute to your endeavors, it really is a sweet mod and I definetly reccommend it to those into the whole fps rpg scene.

yes, it is a bit buggy - but most of the bugs are minor visual bugs, or scripting issues. unfortunately, some of the more serious bugs (transitioning problem on central servers and reliable channel overflow) can only be fixed by editing the hard code of the game (which has problems compiling, not to mention we dont have an experienced coder yet...thothie is learning it though)

all in all, once you play it for an extended period of time you hardly notice the bugs :D

-- and about that reliable channel overflow bug, characters on FuzNet can be restored to a previous backup if you get it

nice patch. wish more people were involved in the community though. :(. still a bit buggy as well, but good nonetheless.
