Dear people of the Modb community, we, former and current MOS members, have created a huge submod for your entertainment. This mod might have started out as a compilation of many smaller mods, but currently houses much unique content as well. MOS aims to be as lore accurate as possible while giving the best game-play experience ever seen in the world of Third Age Total War. After not being active for more than a year we are once again busy updating our mod. This has resulted in the release of version 1.7. We are still at it and we expect that there are yet some updates to look forward to. The Massive Overhaul Mod (or simply MOS) is a submod for Third Age Total War, one of the most popular submods that ever has been made for Medieval II Total War Kingdoms.
Played it a long time, very well biult modification with lots of creative ideas and good scripting. :)
I have spent a lifetime prone to flights of fantasy within the grand realms and stories that J.R.R. Tolkien created for us long ago. Unfortunately, I have spent nearly as long being disappointed with the soul and direction that game studios have tackled the dilemma of bringing his worlds to life with. And so, and I say this without hesitation, this work done to create this submod (and the incredible foundation laid before it) is the grandest and most satisfying recreation of Tolkien's world since the movies. If that isn't enough to get you to download and support this mod, I honestly don't know what is.
EDIT: I am going to deduct one point from my rating, however, because I think the modders could have done a much better job of explaining how to install the submod. Between this page and their twcenter.net page there is a lack of continuity of language/redundancy or a clear format for their instructions. It has subtly different descriptions and points of missing context between the different places instructions are available which adds to a sense of ambiguity. On top of that, they have been patient and diligent with fixes and solutions, but at the end of the day failed thus far to effectively organize the new info into a flow tree taking you from Third Age Mod Installation --> MOS Submod Installation --> Fixes for potential bugs. There needs to be more transparency about steps for keeping back-ups of vanilla for noobs also. That's general etiquitte. Sorry guys, but I've worked with my fair share of engineers/programmers, and I know sloppy work instructions when I see 'em!
Despite this, don't let the shortcomings in communication obscure the incredible work and genius put into making this submod the best it could be. DOWNLOAD IT! NOW!
Super duperdy duper awesometastic to the max with sprinkles and butterscotch and truffles and lemony gummydrop buttons all over the top and hot fudge and whipped cream and shredded dark chocolate and loverly nom noms forever and ever and ever and ever and ever.
MOS is the best mod of all time!!! TWM2 was by far a dead game for me but the people who put in the time and effort to bring us a mod this deep and well thought out, i can't tell you how amazing it really is PLAY IT :)
TATW is the best mod for any game out there. MOS is the best submod for TATW. Easy as that. The new factions work great. Dunland could use some love but hey they made them independent and playable a big + in my book. there is room for improvement but as it is it is still a 10.
One of the main submods for one of the best mods.
Number 2 sub-mod Third AGE 4m :)
After all the work with other sub-mods, MOS is simply still the best overall, even if it might not be the best in all specific areas. For instance, DaC has a larger variety of factions. MOS still has the edge.
