The reapers have returned from dark space. With Earth under attack and the mass relays in a state of chaos from refugees and the councils fleet engaging reaper forces the galaxy is a mess. The outcome is unknown, the warfare is devastating. The galaxy will never be the same.

Post news Report RSS The Crucible & other Superweapons

We go into detail about the Superweapons used by each faction in the upcoming mod for Sins of a Solar Empire. Mass Effect: Dawn of the Reaper

Posted by on

After spending some time talking to my good friend yesterday, we come up with some spot on ideas for the use of the Crucible as well as other superweapons for each side that add more strategy to the game as a whole while playing and keeps each side cautious of the other. We will start with the Council seeing the Crucible model was just finished.

Council -

Now you are probably asking yourself, what the hell is the Crucible going to be used for. Most of you are still suffering from ME3 Ending PTSD. I understand, take a deep breathe and i'll explain. The Crucible now has a new purpose. The Crucible will literally be the very last thing on the tech tree. It will be a tough research. With most likely Reapers taking pot shots, and Cerberus trying to Usurp you it will be a difficult challenge. Once you do though you will have a weapon capable of at least keeping the reapers at bay. The Crucible will act kind of like an EMP but only for Reapers. It will not affect collector or geth ships so it must be used strategically. The cooldown will be 20-30 mins so don't think you will get a second chance.

Destiny Ascension
The Destiny Ascension in lore at least is said to have a massive main gun, that is so powerful it couldn't be fired in the battle for the citadel due to the danger to the station. We will do our best to recreate this weapon as best we can.

Bonuses
- Flagship (Increase fleet damage, and rate of fire for any fleet it is a part of)
- Renown (Acts a center of culture dispersal.) (Fends off colony wide indoctrination due to reaper influence.)

Volus Dreadnought
The Volus Dreadnought will be equipped with several weapons and bonuses to make its own desirable part of your tech tree. The Volus Dread is built around a thanix cannon similar to those used by the reapers. This is a huge offensive advantage when dealing an onslaught of any size

Bonuses
- Frozen Amonia (The Volus vent a small amount of atmosphere into the space behind their ship as they flee slowing oncoming enemies and ensuring their escape.
- Mercantilism (The Volus Dread enhances the economy of any system it sits in.)

Reapers

Now Reapers being the insidious horde they are always need a back up plan in order to hasten the cycles. Reapers being the designers of the Relay network can build relays. They are extremely costly though. Close to the end of the tech tree they will allow reapers to jump into any system they have previously been to before. Making scouts extremely important. While The Council can disable reaper ships, Reapers can jump into any system at will. Making the dynamic of offense and defense a little more planned.

Ravager Class Reaper Titan
Reaper forces narrowed in a small group of Leviathans on several outlying worlds near the batarian homeworld. Their genetic material was taken and forged into a class of reaper all its own. Out of fear because of shepard and the atypical nature of this cycle reapers spared nothing. This reaper is near 4km long. Armed to the teeth, and armored like no ship seen in galactic history. Its sole purpose, destruction on an paralleled scale. Equipped with several thanix cannons and one device created for the sole purpose of unmaking a fleet.

Offensive Bonus
- The Singlet Array (This device fires an iron slug at such a velocity that it causes a small tear in the space around it causing a singularity to form. This singularity rips apart any ship incapable of generating a mass effect field large enough to negate the massive gravitational forces.)

Geth Dreadnought
The Geths answer to increasing hostility from organic races, this ship comes equipped with devastating weapons, decent shielding and the ability to hack into and control other ships for a limited amount of time. With the help of the reapers, the geth intelligence has increased 10 fold. With the use of the Geth Dreadnought, geth ships have increased hacking ability and increased firepower, shielding, and maneuverability making them harder to kill.

Offensive Bonuses
- Increased Geth network (The Geth Dreadnought acts a huge server hub, decreasing communication time between programs and increasing efficiency of the consensus incredibly. Cooldowns are decreased, damage is increased for geth ships only.)

Cerberus
Assured of their power Cerberus has begun their onslaught against the council while trying to stay off the Reapers radar. With a militant human only mentality they push forward utilizing every resource at their disposal. In the wake of shepards investigation of the derelict reaper, Cerberus began looking for the weapon that caused such destruction. To the misfortune of the rest of the galaxy they found it... Capable of putting a shot clean through a Sovereign class reaper Cerberus' uses this weapon for pure offense. Capable of striking from systems away it should be feared, even if it cannot be seen.

Cerberus Dreadnought (Pure Human)
- Cerberus wanting to prove that the human only mentality is the way to go designed their flagship around a new form of weaponry. It is a whole new form of directed energy weapon. The ship automatically targets the weakest points of any vessel and with a single volley either severely damages the ship or leaves it a wreck. Use extreme caution when approaching or dealing with this vessel. Its offensive capabilities should not be underestimated.

Offensive Bonuses
- Multi-Target Point Offense Sytem(MPOS) (Targeting a ship in several places and firing at once causing massive damage to target)
- Call to Arms (As the flagship of Cerberus its presence motivates crews and colonies to increase productivity. Weapons deal more damage, trade grows and influence spreads.)

Cerberus Dreadnought (Synthesis)
- After the Shepard surrendered the Collector Base to the Illusive Man, Research begun. Utilizing parts from the Human Reaper Larvae and the knowledge of the collectors Cerberus is now a force to be reckoned with. Their titan is equipped with thanix cannons as well as increased kinetic barriers and a mass effect field intended for a ship three times it size. It should be regarded as dangerous if not more than a reaper.

Offensive Bonuses
- Accelerated Thanix Cannon(ATC) Operating at a higher velocity than standard thanix cannons it is does more damage than it as well.
- Call to Arms (As the flagship of Cerberus its presence motivates crews and colonies to increase productivity. Weapons deal more damage, trade grows and influence spreads.)

I hope that gun is you're next priority, wanted to see that gun ever since I heard about it. Hoped it will be shown in ME 3 but....*sigh*

Well you have to remember that the reapers already have almost unlimited numbers because of thousands of other harvests before us.

doesn't bother me, I mostly play against the computer set to the highest difficulty setting and cheat my *** off killing them all....still takes a while cause if they get a large enough horde around a planet, it takes some time....oh and my computer can crash.

for the reaper relays is it like you can build a relay your homeworld, then send your fleet to destroy there homeworld but you need another relay to get back? space slingshot basically. so you would prioritise worlds of importance to build relays. how big are the relays? are they full sized or mini ones? (I was right, reapers get relays! yay)

I wanna play as the reapers sooo bad... Its kind of annoying how vanilla sins doesn't have any rape-tarded units. Sometimes i just wanna blow the F%#@ out of the computer with a few badass ships!

I actually had an idea for the Crucible while I was driving home from work today thinking about this mod(yeah pro no lifer right here). Keep in mind that I have no idea if this is even possible, but I had the thought that the Crucible could deal damage to every Reaper at each planet it is directly connected to, dealing 100% damage in it's home system and 10% less damage every system further away (so ships in a system 4 jumps away would take 60% damage). This incredible destructive power would be offset with a very long cool down after each shot and (again, if possible) a decently long delay before the weapon actually fires.

I was thinking about asking Set if I could implement something into the research trees. The renegade faction could use the crucible to damage Reapers in the system it attacks and the Paragon faction could disable Readers for a period of time instead.

why are reaper ships under powered taking 4 or more shots to destroy a batarian cruiser when in lore it is said there have been no ships that have ever survived a direct reaper blast i understand balance but come on
