Maruum is a community wow modding project. We build up a new world based on the wow client 335a. Because we know that it is nearly impossible to do a full mmo with 10 guys, we creat a concept of an open world. Every interested modder can join the team and build his own dreams in a seperatd part of the world. The predefined worldmap is so big that there is enought space for all. Certainly the stuff must match to each other and we will connect the work with some world story lines. In the moment 17 People work on it and we get more and more every day. Beside this mod we also run one of the bigges wow modding communitys and try to giv help to new modders to perhaps find new people interested in and ump into our project. As the posibillitis are given now to use a newer client version for WoW modding we start to convert our project to Warlords of Draenor expansion.
The first maps work already and we work on classes and all the rest. Much work to be done and again like in the early days of wow modding becaus so many stuff is new and undocumented. Many try and error sessions :)
We decided to change also the project concept and start over with the class reagions. The goal in the moment is to create 2 till 3 races with full maps and storyline. What means implementing a hell lot of quests. So if there are people interested in questwriting give ma a message :)
The maps are in an early stage and will get filled with more details.
But it shows modding on WoD is possible,

That's a nice mod, but... aren't you worried Blizz might send a cease and desist or something? They don't seem to like WoW custom servers at all.
Basically we hope that they don´t have anything against this project. We don´t provide access to the original Blizzard world and also change gameplay. But this problem often existed in the past for many modding projects. Thats our risc :)

We will use the new wod expansion but want to get back to the old vanilla style gameplay. Harder, less helper stuff and more PoE and world gameplay. Also no fly mounts...

I'd have a question though. If I've understood the aiming of the project, you guys want to make a "private" server for it, once the beta hits us with awesomeness, but won't that get you troubles with Blizzard?
I have to say that I don't know any privacy policy rules of WoW.
Well, Better hope you guys do not draw some attention from Blizz, and won't download any WoD models, as some private servers did.
We use a public patch containing mop and cata models. Clearly we have to run a own server to make our world possible. But we dont provide blizzards world. We start something complete new. I also do not realy lime pserver with original wow content. If i want to play blizzards story i pay for it.
In the past blizzard was very modder frindly. That clearly is not so easy if yoi have to run a server and provide the story blizzard invented for free. This way blizzard loos money.
I hope the point that we do not use any blizzard story or maps, and also change gameplay with own classes, they can life with it and tolerate or perhaps support the project. We will see what future brings.
Blizzard can't win a court case unless it's being hosted in the US and there's a revenue stream coming out of it.

Yes but for this you need a bunch of menpower more then us 12 working in the moment on the mod. We now start also to do own models because sinde some weeks custo WMOs work on a easy way.
