The Maelstrom Mod introduces four new races to the Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion Universe. They are independent of the original races and have unique strengths and weaknesses. Maelstrom is available for Rebellion, Diplomacy, Entrenchment and Original Sins.

This mod... as interesting as it is, I will never use it ever again til it's balanced. The new races are so over powered, even fielding a starbase would not stop their fleet, what's up with that?

Their capital ships can attack more than 2 targets at once? Even with Diplomacy, at most a capital ship can attack is 3 targets with the Pact from Vasari and this Alliance capital ship is attacking FOUR targets. Not to mention it destroyed a starbase on its own. Even if the starbase only had base armor and health, that's over the top.

Next up is the Dreadnought, ok, another capital ship. However, no information of how much logistics (fleet command, etc) it takes.

And the final piece is I do not like how this mod messes up the stacks at the left. Normally capital ships are always first on the stack but this mod puts them at the button so now I have to sift through my numerous frigates just to get to my capital ship to use its abilities or run?

I'll give this a passing grade just because of the amount of detail given but the thought put into it... not so much. Everything is just broken about the new races, frigates > capital ships... awesome.

Exelent mod.
only problem i have with it so far is that the replicators cant be wiped out in end game, you can just call in new units all the time to replace the one you lost.
dont know if what i had in mide works but cant you have it so the replicator ability need to have space junk in the area to work?
like the vassari space station need to heal.
then you shuld be able to use replicate only when you have killed some ships, or got some destroyed. something like 4-5 or maby more ships destoyed (to make junk) to replicate a new.

another solotion is to simply have the newly replicated unit have his coldown on.

Good mod but, crashes to an unacceptable extent. -5 for just that, because a game is not worth playing if it's not stable.

The models are not that unique either, they're cut and pasted ships from SOASE original game.

What makes this mod different is the fame play styles that it encourages.

Needs better balancing

An excellent mod, I had fun playing it. The only issue I had was the unbalance the replicas had late game, they where fun to play with early game, but when I had everything researched, they where unstoppable. It ruined the fun I had watching battles, I always won, t was like, "Ok, its like on to the next planet, oh they have a huge fleet. But, wait so do I, and my ships just wipe the other fleet, without losing one of my ships. I have the feeling like, I know I'm going to win this next fight, so why do I continue playing if I know I'm going to win, I lose the fun of the risk of an even battle.

Did I just rant???

this mod adds a whole lot and i mean a Hole lot of diversity to the gameplay concidering the new races and not to mention the new planet types that make me.. yeah, im not gonna go there

but i have given this mod a 9/10 because i found out the hard way that it has a tendancy to just rage quit on its own and put you at the desktop and youre left asking WTF?! was that! MY GAME!! NOOO!!!.
other than that, it would have gotten a 10/10 from me

I love this Mod, since version 4. But we need to fix the Trade Alliance Hanger Defense squadron increase research. When you perform research to increase the max squadrons from 4 using the research under 'Munitions'. The research does nothing right now. I love this mod, both expanded and vanilla.

Amazing, absolutely stunning, brilliant. This is what Sins of a Solar Empire needed to become the single best gaming experience in the history of the RTS genre. Well done Maelstrom, from the entire community.

i can't put more than 5. as a homeworld lover i can't stand seeing ripped homeworld 2 ships not being used like they are meant to..
for exemple a well known Hiigaran torpedo frigate being used as a dual laser frigate with the laser coming out of torpedo tubes... and it is like this for other ships too.

(it is like ripping off a star destroyer from a starwars game and put missiles projectiles instead of the laser ones with the same plasma battery skins.. it would bother you.)

when you rip of models and texture traight from a game you should have at least the decency of keeping their characteristic.
Also the dev i have spoken to seems to not have played homeworld nor do he care about missusing what he ripped off.
