The Maelstrom Mod introduces four new races to the Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion Universe. They are independent of the original races and have unique strengths and weaknesses. Maelstrom is available for Rebellion, Diplomacy, Entrenchment and Original Sins.
I have been using this mod for years. It is still my favorite mod. I find the original sins to be to slow for me and a bit boring. I have always been a fan of stardock games because i can easily edit and modify the files to make the game more to my taste.
This mod really enhances the gameplay. I love all the added planets/stars/etc. My favorite part of a game is exploration. Not knowing what is down that phase lane and having only a slight chance of it being a certain body type. My next favorite is the races. I love the replicators as an enemy race.
The original pirate faction was glorified rebels. Maelstrom made them into a legit faction that is closer to player races than slightly more powerful rebels of the original. So i love the work done with the pirates to.
But if your looking for suggestions for new features to add to maelstrom: 1) more planet/star/etc types are always welcome. New planet bonuses or even a new race.( maybe an actual super advanced race that isnt playable to spice things up)
Keep up the good work and a huge thank you for all the effort that you and those that helped you have put into this mod over the years. I know making a mod of this quality requires a lot of man hours and it is very much appreciated.
This Mod does not only add some new races to the Sins of a solar empire game, it gives a whole new lore in detailed research trees and adds with new effects, behaviors of ships and abilities a new gameplay experience that makes it like an professional expansion to the game.
