Even thou development on this mod is complete, I just wanted to say that it is the best Mod that respects and truly expands the Vanilla Universe.
The only thing I would change is the Trade Alliance Faction Name. I mean we already have a faction with TRADE (TEC) on it.
Besides the "Trade Alliance" in Maelstrom looks more like an evil "Warhammer" like human based EMPIRE or DOMINION.
Anyways, thank you devs for this!
Glad you enjoy the mod.
Maelstrom was an attempt to double Sins assets in the game ... races, star, planet, etc
I know what you mean regarding the TA ... but after 10 years it is baked-in
Hi, I am not sure if this is a bug, as I have tried every version since R13 and this has happened. I'm using the latest version of game from steam.
New faction ships don't explode when destroyed, they just keep floating, and their icons don't disappear. I don't know if it's a bug or not, but it makes the game really hard to play. The destruction of the original faction ships is normal, they will explode as usual.
I have had 2 or 3 intermittent reports of this happening over the years.
I have not experienced it myself.
I have not done anything with the Sins particle system for a number of releases ... I think I tried simplifying the explosions several releases ago.
My conclusion was and is that it is hardware dependent ... graphics card/memory/drivers. You may try to reduce some of the graphics setting in the game and see if that helps.
Okay,thanks for your reply:)
By the way, love your works, have you consider adding more races?
Unfortunately the hardcoded limits of Sins limit the number of fully functional races

Hello - reporting one possible bug and asking one design question.
The bug - I attacked a minor faction planet under an AI players control. On destroying the planet, the remaining minor faction buildings became neutral. I could not attack them, and when I colonized it I could not use them or deconstruct them to free up the logistics and tactical slots. Normal behavior is that the minor faction buildings remain hostile and can be cleaned up. I'm not sure if this is specifically a Maelstrom bug, or something caused by the surprise patch that the devs dropped on Sins a few months ago.
The question - I noticed that the militia units being spawned are a mix of Vasari, TEC, and Advent ships always, without respect to the actual faction, user or AI player. Maelstrom factions do not use their own ships for militia, while vanilla factions will all see militia ships from the other two vanilla sides. Is this a bug or intentional?
Thanks for the mod, keeping it updated, and your time.
The bug - I believe you have researched the friendship/neutral 'pact' with the pirates and militia
The question - it is intentional, I has a brief look at adding ships to the militia but did not see much vale added.
Cheers
@soase-maelstrom, would it be possible to add some unique models to the added 3 races appart from Homeworld pirates, instead of the modded/glued racial ships? It just does not feel right in most cases...
Is the mod still being developed behind the scenes or are you just keeping it updated and working with new versions of Sins? (Thanks either way)
Only thing I noticed so far was playing as the traders, I've gotten militia forces that are advent and vasari ships for some reason.
And if the mod is still being developed I'm sure you could come up with some really cool ideas for minor factions!
I am not the dev, but the mod is rather complete at this point. Be glad there are compatability updates.
