u could use it for a solar mine...take energy from the sun in your solar system but u must control the system itself before u can mine from the sun hahahaha or it could be tranferred into a solar defence network like use the suns immense energy to power a planet size space station...would make it easier to intercept large fleets who just phase in and then phase to the nearest planet and unless u have phase inhibitors everywhere ur stuck watching ur planet die till ur fleets finally make it to ur planet
^ win. it would be like a solar defense system, but it shouldn't be too over powered, just REALLY good. ALSO, a cool idea would be, not only be a defense platform, but a population center and factory as well (just throwing ideas out there, I'm good at that). it would have to cost something in proportion to how big it is.
maybe u can give it an upgrade where u can put turrets on those ring things which are different to each race
