Rapine Entertainment is the worlds largest producer and distributer of illegal underground film. It's catalogue attracts global interest, and includes group beatings, snuff, executions and harakiri among others. In 2007 a new franchise will be released, in which perfectly average citizens are thrown into desperate situations, the outcome of which will determine their right to exist. The title of this new franchise, is Lynch.

Lynch is a first person, survival horror mod built for ID software's Doom 3 engine. Inspired greatly by games such as Manhunt,Theif, Condemned: Criminal Origins and films in the vein of Irreversible and Man Bites Dog, the mod throws the player into a desperate situation in which they must fight and/or think to survive. Violence is not the only answer here, nor is it entirely necassary, but you will be frequently forced into asking questions regarding morality, and how it effects the primal instinct for survival.

Features :

Episodic Content -
Lynch is a franchise of illegal, violent films created by underground specialists Rapine Entertainment. Each episode of the game represents a new release within the franchise, each with unique plots, characters and visual styles.

*External Narrative -
While each episode tells a unique story, there's much more going on in the background which is not limited to the Lynch universe. Each episode will contain new infomation and clues, which you must use to search the internet, and reveal the true story.

*Lynch Cam -
See not through the eyes of the lead character, but through multiple Scurity and Body cams, triggered by the Director at any given moment.

*Multiple Choice -
While not professing to integrate the same level of choice as say Knights of the Old Republic, Lynch will offer different solutions to certain problems. Your compliance with the Directors wishes might just make your progress easier, but at what cost?

*Interaction -
Not all weapons just lie around here, you're going to have to search long and hard, and use the environment around you as both tools of violence, and distraction.

*Executed with precision -
Pull off special executions with a variety of melee weapons. Just remember, it's only as violent as you are.

It's been 2 weeks since Lynch was 'announced'. and the feedback I have recieved thus far has firstly being in unprecedented abundance, and secondly extremely positive. I really wasn't expecting any kind of reaction, this is still my dumb little project so thanks to all who've responded to the mod up to this point. Muchly appreciated.

Anyway! While development is slow (life, such an annoying obstruction) I've got just a few minor things to show. A few screenshots to present how the direction of level design is beginning to evolve, though they're in the dreaded 'empty corridor' style. Still very much in the testmap phase but the results are encouraging.

Also, in the previously mentioned feedback came a number of quieries regarding the CCTV effect applied to the HUD in Lynch. To answer this and any future enquiries I have begun a Design section, in which I will include videos and general overviews of how assets of Lynch are created. So far there's just an overview of how the HUD effect was built, but over time this section should hopefully flesh out a little.

Watch a low quality version of the video on YouTube

Download a higher quality version of the video here (may require moddb registration

Updates will probably be in this manner for a little while so I can focus on getting the main content as decent as possible. In October/November (possibley a bit later) I've organised an interview with the good folks here at www.moddb.com.. If anyone has ANY questions about any aspect of the mod please either email leave them on the mod profile or in a response here. I want to make it as in depth and relevant as possible am looking to include questions from the community too

For a second I thought this was a mod trying to emulate the styles of David Lynch. :(

not dead

i think i announced it too early in production and certain things have changed which are slowing down progress. I'm also working on other things, the experience from which I'm confident will make lynch a far more efficient/quality project once I get going on it again.

cheers for the interest though, it doesn't go unappreciated and I can assure you that when it comes, the fresh media will honour this.

yeah, no kidding.

okay, yeah, one more thing i'd install it for is when they finally release a mod for resurrection of evil. i haven't been able to play the damn thing because the mod isn't out yet. (also i hate their "sound radar")

If it wasn't for the fact I loved Doom3 and was modding it, the mods I'd be installing it for are The Dark Mod, Recall to Hell, final builds of Into Cerberon and Ground Zero, Hexen: Edge of Chaos, Facing Hell, and Waterton... dam, Doom 3's actually got some pretty high quality stuff on the way :D
