In my opinion I think it's really good for a first mod. It isn't super scary but it is decent at scaring, but I feel like it relys too much on jumpscares which don't really bother me. It has a nice look to it, and I like the design, but It does have a few issues. One of the main ones being how pitch black it is. The HL flashlight is garbage, which can make it instead frustrating to play the game instead of being scared. I think it's fine if it's used indoors but for an outdoor location (like the forest) I think it should be atleast barely visible outside, but enough that you won't see the enemies, but can see where you are going.

Also, I feel like it's too similar to AoM. I noticed you used a few of those textures from it, and the viewmodel, the zombies and how they twitch and use the same sound, even the start felt a little bit similar. But I think the best part of this mod was the start. But I like how you made secret areas, that is a great thing to do.

Thanks for commenting, I'm actually trying to get away from the AoM feeling, like I want to change the enemies to my own style and I want to make my own weapons. Unfortunately I have no experience in making models or animating them :( that's why I'm using the AoM ones for now.

I'm also planning on changing the beginning completely to match the story I am writing. Don't worry though, I do plan on reusing the house in a different part of the story, I just gotta find the .rmf file for it. More updates on the story later.

I need to also balance the light like you were saying. Right now I'm not using a skybox, but I'm using a completely black texture. I thought it's cool way to make an environment dark without relying on a pre-made skybox texture. I will try to make the forest area and other dark places easier to navigate.

Hey thanks for the reply, I'm actually still a beginner in mapping myself. For the modeling I know there is a method for textures where you can just take the original texture for a model, lets say the zombie and make a copy or something like that, and draw over the texture. I'm sure there are videos of that somewhere, I don't know how to do it exactly so I wouldn't recommend without watching a video because I don't want to ruin the original textures and I don't think you do. The actual model itself, I'm pretty sure you can just cut off the headcrab (if the model is a zombie) and replace it with a scientist head and smooth the shoulders, I know a program that you can make models for HL in, it's called Milkshape. There is a trial but after that you have to pay for it. The animation is where I'm also stuck. I don't know how HL animations work and I don't know the program or programs.

Just a heads up, since you mentioned this is your first mod.

I've not played the mod, but you've included a lot of vanilla Half-Life content that you really don't need to. The half-life wad for example is 35mb. Also, you included a lot of p_models that are only visible in multiplayer. You don't need those. ;)

All you need to include in your mod file is the custom content you are adding and a liblist.gam file. That's it.

Second, don't include your SAVE directory or config.cfg. If somebody dies while playing your mod, they will load your SAVE file and jump ahead. Config.cfg are your key bindings and including it will mean players might waste time rebinding their keys all over again to suit their personal preferences.

Don't call your mod directory "Mod" because it will get confusing for people with hundreds of mods installed. Call it "Lost" so it can be easily found in the files.

I'll check the demo out later and share my thoughts. :D

Thank you for your thought, I really do appreciate them.
Yeah, I realized after I uploaded the mod that I left the SAVE directory lol.
The reason I called it mod was because I didn't know what to call the mod at the time, lost was kinda thrown in there so I could upload it but I see what you are saying about not calling it mod.
I will be sure to delete vanilla stuff I don't need, I just have them there for right now just in-case I need to use them.

Again, thank you for your tips :)

Well, I've played it, That was actually decent though.

The map although simple, its already looks good enough.
Scary enough, but doesn't really terrify me to be honest.

Secret is A good choice, I like secrets in mods, it makes the mod feels has A lot more to explore.
I haven't managed to find the secrets, maybe sometimes i find it.

Thank you for your feedback. This demo is something I made a year or two ago and want to finish it. The mod borrows a lot of Afraid of Monsters things. I do plan on adding a story to the mod. There are in total I think 4 secret areas to find so far (3 in the house level and 1 in the forest) Goodluck :)
