The lighting here is incredible. I just think the ground looks ... 'weird', as in shadow / bump wise. But the fog + greyish tone, fire and rays make it perfect.
There's shadows on the ground, indicating there's a level of elevation in the ground, while with the current angle and lighting settings it 'looks' like there is no elevation at all. It looks like the shadows (which are pretty prominent and black for such a delicate lightened scene) are projected on top of a flat surface, creating this 'weird' effect for me.
Is this DX8 by any chance? If yes, I completely understand the cause of the effect (lack of bump mapping, that is). Just my technical view on this screen :) Correct me if im wrong, I'm only human and I am always open to learn.
Defenetely not R1.
No antialiasing.
The surfaces looks bumpy.
You can see the rays.
Small amount of bloom is present.
The sun seems to be on the south, while on R1 it's usually renderend on west.
Yes, it seems that the bump texture is too 'deep'. Thing is the fireplace is very low over the ground and this gives very hard shadows on that texture. However in the sunlight outside it looks much better. In this particular case the sunlit part is lit by the fire as well and the shadows add up.
We may lower the 'depth' of this bump if such issues persist.

Thumbs down? Hmm.
Let me elaborate;

Yeah, the ground seems to have too "deep" bump texture.

I just wonder: if global illumination was on, could it have made the bump shading not as dark?
How cool to lie on this mattress wrapped in a sleeping bag and watch the fire..
And then you see a Bloodsucker, you're dead.
And then die from an unknown sickness... Yeah, right...
