Lost Alpha is a new episode of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series made by dezowave group for free!
Yes, the control room, which perfectly sums up the situation when people think they can control everything, but then something goes wrong...
So what we are up to? The changeslog is already too good for a patch we planned. However there is a bug which still makes our days way too hard. When you would think a defect is finally fixed, and after the 12th try it happens again. Then it works for 5 tries, then it happens 3x in a row, then again fine for 10+ tries... This bug happens on Outskirts level, which is around the 65% of the main storyline, and it only happens if you try to approach an area (hard to explain without spoilers :)) from a certain direction, and still it's totally random...
I guess some of you already know how we feel now. When you see people would want to play the game so much, and you would like to release the update so much... But! you have the controls and you know, if you let it go with this bug, then 1 or more of 10 people will get this bug, and if they won't have a bit earlier save, then their game is over.
It's risky, but when you need to choose from 2 bad options, you need to measure those 2, and choose the one which is not so bad, as the other one. So please give us a little more time. We are waiting for our lead programmer who has RL issues as well (oh yea? you dont say that!), he is rebuilding his pc right now after a mobo and cpu failure, plus doing university stuff and working after that, but still has a little time to check on this bug, which makes us calm a bit, because if we think back, there wasn't any bug he couldn't fix in the past, and we had many, just because he can't sit at his pc 10hours per day, it takes a bit longer. Meanwhile we are decorating the levels, can't say much, just adding more life, and making ai reactions better, but still it's not easy in order to not to ruin the scripted events, where you need to coop with your enemies :)
If you are interested in things, we are here to answer.
Thanks for the update, I've purposely delayed playing the mod but I'm sure it'll be worth the wait.
Same, I think I am going to wait after some patching and stuff. This thing will only get better over time..
thanks for the update. Oh! that control room is amazing!! Still at Pripyat sewers so still long way to arrive there. So... egg heads don´t touch any button! ;)
nice picture!
"Can you do (X)?"
...
Is that a challenge?
Nice:)
Just wanted to say thanks for the update and thanks for all of your hard work.
I wish we had the update already but I absolutely understand why we don't. I agree, better to wait until the bug is fixed then release something you know is broken.
For now I'll patiently wait and just be very happy when the update does get released.
Thanks again!
Great an update :D
Btw how big is the patch, and is there improvement in performance?
:)
around 2gb unpacked, and the installer is 510-520mbyte. Performance is improved, but might work differently on certain computers. We can only test it on ours until its released :)
I have trouble running your marvelous game, I can't wait to see how improved performance is.
so which GPUs do you have tested? Both AMD and Nvidia?
we tested both i think, but there are so many variations, and also older hw/ or laptop hw... and so on. I have amd vga, and for me its much faster now.
My old laptop HP G6 with apu processor run on dx9 with low details smoothly and on grill box with R9 270X on full details. One more thing will be previous patch required for installation of the upcoming one?
yes, otherwise the new patch would be too big, its already 500+ mb, if we would include the previous one, it would be around 700mb, and we do not want to split the archives, seeing many ppl have problems with that.
Just torrent it))
sweet.
thx or the update, it will be worth the wait and I can understand, that you still hold it back and you want to get it fixed. since you are using the meantime until he fixed it for good, everything is fine and we may see some new stuff here and there which we didn't see before
btw. nice control room *:D can't wait to get there !
What about the multi-core support? :D
we already have what xray could have. and it was explained many many times.
Thanks for the infos. Take your time and give us a good patch.
Even if it takes some time more.
You guys are doing all this for free from your own spare time, we as players have no right to demand anything and if someone gets angry because of this delay then it is his/her own problem. Take your time and release the patch when you guys feel that it's done, we can wait :)
I have an MSI R9 290 with 4GbRAM at 1007Mhz coupled with an O'clocked i5 4670K working at 4.2 Ghz all on a 42" HD Led TV, If you wan't I can give some feedback as soon as you release the "new" version with the patch :)
PS: have you worked around or solved the "out of memory" error that Xray gives as it exceeds 3Gb Ram usage? It's an error that's been ported from the 32 bit version by GSC that didn't optimize the engine at all for 64bit OS (and 32bit OS neither)
You're doing such a beautiful work, If this was officially released I would have surely paid for this 4th chapter of STALKER saga! :)
I hope you improve performance because its funny how graphics in game look like in vanilla but i have to play game on minimun while i can play Autumn Aurora 2 with Secret Trails 2 maxed out
Thank you for this update. Things are a bit more clear now. Take your time :)
please make " co-op S.t.a.l.k.e.r." which i can play with my friends :) one day, By the way, you´re THE best, and lost alpha is amazing.
It's a great mod, i never got around to playing the original SoC, I bought CS and CoP off steam and they have given me many hours of fun and scares over the years. but getting to play this is a real treat, so with that in mind, screw the whiners, release the patch when its ready and less ppl will complain about things that were missed.
great jobs on this project guys, from me at least no rush is necessary plenty of things out there to keep us entertained for a while, I know i would like to do a play through with as minimal hiccups as possible so waiting is in my best interest. don't let the complaining get to you, even the most impatient fan is going to have a better time playing if they wait a bit longer.
<3
Is that sapper?
Yes take your time for this patch ! we can wait a bit of time again , i think its better you can fix much bug before release the second patch , its 100% benefits for all :)
Great comment! Best wishes,
yours gannebamm
i feel for you guys, because bugs are a real hell in your development, and even more so when they seem to accour random. Personaly i always start to delete stuff till the bug isn't there anymore, then you know it is in the last part that was deleted, But you ofcourse will already have tried this. ANd because it seems to take place random it is even more hard to fix. Great your main programmer was able to fix everything in the past, so he probably is also able to fix this now, when he has time and build his pc. All in all, we will wait, ofcourse we want to play this, but it is better to wait as to play it with such a big random bug.
Much success,
Leon
looks like we found the problem... still need to test it several times. but its a good sign i can say...
Just take more time. We'll wait it :D
1.3002 will be cumulative and will ship next week! The size of installer will be ~510-520 mbyte (which will install nearly 2.3gb content). It will wipe the gamedata and bins directory from the game, so if you modded something make sure you make a backup of it before you install the patch over. From now we will store the scripts and configs too in database files, which will make it easier for modders to manage the files. And it will be easier for players too, since they will only need to delete gamedata folder, if they want to remove a mod.
Good we didn't have to wait for our "lead programmer" :P
indeed! thanks to you :)
I had changed a script, which gives me infinite time for sidequests, so I have to back up this file (everthing elese is unchanged) and after installing the new patch, where do I put it in then ?
In the same place where you have it now - but you should update it, as it won't be fully compatible with 1.3002.
Hell yes.

So with this last bug just give us an approximate location like what level or mission. Then we can do a hard save, which everyone should be doing anyway. If it is only one its workable. Then you will have thousands of people looking at the bug and a possible fix. You need to let the Stalker community help out more. I always do hardsaves with any big mod. It doesn't sound like a game buster
The only way I save the game is typing following in the console:
save modname_gameday_save#
My saves for SoC and CoP take more than 300 MBs of space :D
Change the saved game opinions so we can do multiple saves. Stalker soc never had that option and first time I played it I was almost to the wish granter but kept dying from radiation and there were no saves left for me to go back to, so game over. Stalker SGM 2.2 did that with the save system and made it so you could just go back to an earlier save. The safe system in Stalker always needed this option anyway.
Just patien man, from any day, moment patch be released!
i have a 5960x and its only using 1 core? is there any way to run on all cores... i now that threads matter in a game but i would love to see all the cores in good use any way of doing that? or do i have to live with it. thanks, this mod is a really survive game love the mod!!!
