Map improvements, bug fixes, and many quality of life improvements! Sprite and texture upgrades migrated from the Zelda 1 Redux ROM hack. Requires GZDoom...
2 music packs that properly loop the music. One includes the Zelda Famicom music and sound effects, for the purist player!
The Legend of Doom is a total conversion for DOOM that seeks to faithfully recreate the original NES world of Hyrule!
This conversion aims to faithfully bring the original NES land of Hyrule to life in the GZDoom engine.
An update that fixes various (one serious) issues in the initial release.
The Legend of Doom is a total conversion for DOOM that seeks to faithfully recreate the original NES world of Hyrule!
I watched Vinny play this, and I just had to get it for myself. Issue is, I'm a total noob at modding Doom, as I've really only played Brutal Doom. When I launch the game, I get the dialogue box that reads
Script error, "lod-1.0.2.pk3:zmapinfo" line 118:
DoomEdNums: Unknown top level keyword
And I have no clue what this means. :) Any help is appreciated! <3
Here's a quick and easy fix for you :
1- Drop both the wad for Doom 2 (Doom2.wad) and lod-1.0.2.pk3 in your GZDoom folder (You need to use GZDoom)
2- Right-click GZDoom.exe ---> create shortcut
3- Right-click the newly created shortcut and choose "properties" this time.
4- In the next window, to the right of "target:", you will see some stuff written between quotation marks. Go to the end of that line, add a space then add this : -iwad doom2.wad -file lod-1.0.2.pk3
It should look like this :
"C:\games\GZDoom\GZDoom.exe" -iwad doom2.wad -file lod-1.0.2.pk3
Click on OK when you're done and whevenever you want to start this mod, just execute the shortcut you just created. It will automatgically load the game and the mod without requiring any input on your end. Works with every other Doom 1 or Doom 2 mod too :)
thanks a ton!
Thank you for writing this reply!
There's a heart container you get by burning a bush on the southern wall (here: Zeldadungeon.net).
This bush kinda leads to a noclip bug/glitch. I have only experienced it once (of two playthroughs), but you can see what happens
Clips.twitch.tv
The side-effect of this glitch persists thru save/load, but otherwise seems rather harmless.
We called it shrek-mode fwiw.
Thanks for the report and the video! I would have included this fix in v1.0.3 but I've been unable to reproduce the behavior. Obviously it happened, so I will keep going until I figure out what is going on , but I didn't want it to hold up the other fixes in v1.0.3.
It seems that burning said bush will occasionally remove a wall. burning this bush on my first playthrough left the wall intact so i didn't even bother trying to clip
Same here. I ended up experiencing the glitch on accident, and its kinda irking me. I hope this gets fixed soon.
Sorry you're encountering this frustration! I'm still trying to reproduce and once I do I'll make sure it is fixed. Are there other places where you find yourself clipping or is it the same one shown in the video?
What version of Gzdoom runs of?
Sorry for the mistakes i use a translator.
Gzdoom 4.7, friend.
Beat the mod a little while ago! Was really fun, felt amazing to play Zelda 1 in first person, you did a fantastic job. Here are some of issues I found in my playthrough.
Whenever I picked up the Clock item and would kill an enemy its hurtbox would still linger until after the clock ran out.
In level 6, There's a room with Gleeok that after killing him the doors would not open, I had to noclip to get out, and In level 9 I had 2 crashes that would consistently happen when I walked into either of two dirt rooms. As soon as the crash happened it would bring up the command screen ~
VM Execution aborted: tried to read from address zero. In function parameter "type"

Called from SpawnController.worldTick at lod-1.0.1. pk3:actors/zeldaspawner.zs, line 333
Called from Actor.Spawn [Native]
There was also a spike trap that would block a stair tile in level 9.
I was playing on your V1.0.1 (Thats the version I started yesterday)
If you need a video or something of the crashes lemme know and I'll try to record something for you.
No, that's a great report. Thanks! The Gleeok issue is fixed in 1.0.2 but I'll need to go in and look at those rooms in level 9, the clock, and the spike trap for 1.0.3.
