2 music packs that properly loop the music. One includes the Zelda Famicom music and sound effects, for the purist player!
The Legend of Doom is a total conversion for DOOM that seeks to faithfully recreate the original NES world of Hyrule!
This conversion aims to faithfully bring the original NES land of Hyrule to life in the GZDoom engine.
An update that fixes various (one serious) issues in the initial release.

I cannot pick up the magical sword, what's going on?
you need 12 hearts to grab the magic sword
Thank you so much for this mod, this is amazing, you added so many details like secrets and everything!
I had to use the version from oct 8 because the last one wasn't working on the latest gzdoomvr version, but this didn't took anything away of the fun of doing this in VR :D
Will you ever work on a Link To The Past mod? that's my favourite zelda game, i'd play that 100% in vr for sure!
This is great!
I've had thoughts about Link to the Past. Maybe it's something I'd try, but it would be a lot more difficult mapping wise and I think there'd be some technical challenges with the overworld transitions. Also some kind of homage to Adventures of Link would be fun.
For this mod I'm planning on a v1.1 that switches to 3D voxel models for the weapons. Right now I'm fixing stray bugs and getting some more experience with Doom mods that have good VR support before I jump into coding (if you know any that you feel work particularly well let me know!).
3D weapons sounds pretty sweet yeah :)
And i can imagene it must be a braincracker to script such things, lots of thanks already for this mod!
I honestly wouldn't mind if the dark world in link to the past wouldn't be in the mod, just being able to play everything from the normal overworld would be such an experience, the woods, the castle's, the enemies, all the weapons and powers, oh man :D If you ever start working on this please tell me :D
side note I did 3d model the rupees tho not voxel based. i plan on doing more as well.
Thanks so much!
I also watched Vinny play it. It's a truly excellent, faithful mod! :)
Thanks! I watched his playthrough and as painful as it was to see him encounter some bugs, it was a really helpful and cool experience.
v1.0.3 has just been released that fixes some of the biggest issues like where player takes damage during time stop, blue candle now indicates when flame is out, and door spawners that might trigger too soon if the player is walking slowly.
I watched Vinny play this, and I just had to get it for myself. Issue is, I'm a total noob at modding Doom, as I've really only played Brutal Doom. When I launch the game, I get the dialogue box that reads
Script error, "lod-1.0.2.pk3:zmapinfo" line 118:
DoomEdNums: Unknown top level keyword
And I have no clue what this means. :) Any help is appreciated! <3
Here's a quick and easy fix for you :
1- Drop both the wad for Doom 2 (Doom2.wad) and lod-1.0.2.pk3 in your GZDoom folder (You need to use GZDoom)
2- Right-click GZDoom.exe ---> create shortcut
3- Right-click the newly created shortcut and choose "properties" this time.
4- In the next window, to the right of "target:", you will see some stuff written between quotation marks. Go to the end of that line, add a space then add this : -iwad doom2.wad -file lod-1.0.2.pk3
It should look like this :
"C:\games\GZDoom\GZDoom.exe" -iwad doom2.wad -file lod-1.0.2.pk3
Click on OK when you're done and whevenever you want to start this mod, just execute the shortcut you just created. It will automatgically load the game and the mod without requiring any input on your end. Works with every other Doom 1 or Doom 2 mod too :)
thanks a ton!
