The french have historically won more wars than any other country. Nowadays we call them wimps because they surrendered early in ww2, which was a result of France never really recovering from ww1.

Well that was a statement based on the zeitgeist of the French.

Though if you read the highly biased and comic book "1,000 years of annoying the French" you will see that it makes a fair point from the Normans actually being Scandinavian and the fact that France's greatest leader was a Corsican with an Itallian Ancestery. The only proper French Leader was Charles De Gaul.

If you look at what happend in post Great war and Pre World War 2, you will see that France was actually in a far better postion to fight another war than Germany. It was just that France was extremely divided, there were those who wanted to fight and those who didn't. Plus the Armies were just not ready for an armoured offensive. This explains to some extent why Vichy France was set up instead of everyone joining the "Free France" movement.

but as I stated my previous comment is based on zeitgeist of the french. I also believe that theM3nace is incorrect in stating that the french have won more wars than any other country, if you look at basic satistics you see Britain first with the French coming 2nd. America is 20th, due to them only being 236 years old. Britain is first most likely due to Britain invading every country in the world other than 22.(Sweden,Bolivia,Mongolia.etc). Which I feel is only bad...

Right. France's performance in any wars that didn't involve Napoleon Bonaparte are totally irrelevant to the mod and shouldn't be discussed here.

The important thing is that in 1809, when the mod is set, the French army was unquestionably the best in Europe, and frequently performed acts that required
immense testicular fortitude.
