New discoveries, more fun with npcs! Hope you enjoy!

A massive breakthrough has been discovered in the mod! Waypoints and "smarter" npcs are at last possible. By adding in certain entities in the maps, it is now possible for allies and enemies to pursue you or other enemies. You should no longer need to worry about npcs moving too far away from each other and freezing in place, afraid of moving.

Edits have also been made to the code for us to be able to create waypoints at an extremely rapid pace across all maps in Single Player. Full production is at last possible, but will be delayed as we address other things.

In efforts to test this, waypoints and point_combats have been added to the Star Forge map in the mod. In addition to this, the bonus mission Revan vs. Malak has been updated to reflect these changes. You should immediately notice a difference as to how the NPCs behave.

Small arena maps will be updated in the very near future to reflect these changes, and allow you to hopefully enjoy your interactions with the npcs.

Please let us know your feedback as to how this works. You can download this Open Beta through the launcher at your convenience.

tl;dr: Revan vs. Malak and the Star Forge maps have waypoint and point_combat entities, and should therefore make all npcs spawned in the map much smarter in terms of following and pursuing enemies (or you).

Found one small problem. When coming out of the spawn hall on the Star Forge there was one disconjointed link to the right side jedi pods resulting in the npcs taking a long detour to reach the opposite side.

Doing waypoints was something we wanted to do, but unfortunately, given the immense time-consuming nature with the process of adding in waypoints by hand, doing a map like the Star Forge would have taken several hours. Larger maps like Atlantica or the Alzoc 3 Enclave would've taken much longer.

However, I was able to modify the source code to paste the waypoint coordinates into a text file, and then I created a Java program to turn that plain text into the entity syntax read by the game. After that, a little bit of entity modding the map, and they're in.

The nice thing about waypoints is that they don't need to be linked. Putting them anywhere will allow for the NPCs to navigate the environment all by themselves.

Long story short, I was able to turn the original process of placing waypoints from a multi-hour long process, to something that would only take a few minutes. Waypointing Star Forge only took 5 minutes, believe it or not.

Maybe they mean that all maps will have a waypoint system.

I imagine this is something you've already noticed, but NPCs, especially Jedi/Sith, love to jump into the pits around the Star Forge. Not sure if that's something to can levitate.
