Kings and Conquerors: The Hellenistic Era is a total conversion mod for Rise of Nations: Thrones and Patriots that aims to bring the Hellenistic period to life.
The Greek psiloi were unarmoured peasant infantry used for skirmishing. In Kings and Conquerors, there are three psiloi-type units available to the Hellenistic factions: akontistai (javelineers), sphendonetai (slingers) and toxotai (archers). They are very basic soldiers, having low costs but also low health and attack. Although they serve little purpose later in the game, you will find yourself relying on them early on when you cannot afford to train professional armies.

Great new hellenic units :) but this units will be shared by all the hellenistic factions in the mod whithout modifications ?
Thanks! To save slots, the stats of these units will be shared across the Hellenistic factions, and a few factions will share the same models, but there will be different models between the Greek (Macedon, Epirote), Eastern (Pontic, Seleucid) and Egyptian psiloi. It's like how Asian units appear different to European units in the original game, yet have the same stats.
Good work. But what perks do the Greeks get from their psiloi/toxotai?
Thank you. The psiloi have a few perks in that they require little in the way of technology and resources, and they can be trained quickly. However, compared to the skirmisher units of other factions they are unremarkable.
I'm guessing that psiloi are a Greek "non-upgradeable", and that unlike the Romans who continuously upgrade their units, Greek units pretty much remain the same - a hoplite is still a hoplite, and doesn't have many upgrades, yes?
That's pretty much correct. While a few of the Hellenistic units can be reformed, most are unaffected by the reform techs. It's funny though that you mention psiloi and hoplites, as both the akontistai and hoplitai have reform upgrades.
