This mod is awesome! any chance of the source code getting released down the line? I'd love compatibility with one of the coop mods floating around the internet
Enemies are still pretty tough against an unmodded pistol, not sure if that was intentional, but without using the "get cash" cheat to buy the magnum mod, it can be pretty difficult getting past the first set of thugs until you pick up a shotgun from an enemy.
Not great, the loading screens are all pixelated, there is no 1360x768 resolution, why did you removed the gibs? Still no mouse cursor on title screen, some weird movement on the textures, the controls are still bad, etc, but seems like you made the graphics better.

The game works perfectly with the Mod.
I actually replaced original game .pak file with the Mod .pak file(s) rather replacing only original .dll with the Mod.

My Review

The original had a lot of serious issues namely Enemy AI deadly accuracy. The most amazing improvement is the shortgun effect and Enemy Hitpoints. On Easy the gameplay was never an issue BUT on Medium and higher it was almost impossible to enjoy without extreme frustrations and weapons lack the punch over taking Enemies in few hits.
The Rags2Riches is the only Mod that actually solved the issue finally making game more enjoyable even on Real difficulty.

This game reminds me Freedom Fighters amazing Gang orders. I request to implement another option to make my Gangs (Thugs) to accept better weapons given by me, just like telling them to replace pistols with the shotguns since the dead enemies leave behind many weapons.
My Gang should be able to pick the fallen weapons and equip them.
Also, another change requested is to select entire group of gangs rather single thugs to give orders of attacking upcoming enemies.
Thanks for the review. These are some good ideas but I don't know if I'll ever do anything else with this mod. I'm currently working on a MP2 mod which will be my last mod for some time. I'm trying to learn how to play the guitar and I need to devote more time to that. It's either one or the other for me since I'm usually very busy and I don't have nearly as much time to mod as I use to. But you never know. Maybe down the road I'll add a little more to this mod and take into consideration what you have requested. Don't forget to rate this mod. Thanks again.

I want to play this amazing mod over original for the amazing improvements but need serious help on installing this mod.
I have the GOG version (good old games) DRM free Kingpin patched to v1.21.
As per the Rags2Riches Readme, I replaced "gamex86.dll" and the Pak0.pak file (with Pak7.pak) from the main folder and when executed the kingpin launcher a blank grey screen appears only. Nothing happens and the game won't start.
Is this game compatible with the GOG version???
Do I need to change something for the game to read the Mod files??
Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks
So this is a really old comment but in case somebody stumbles upon it having the same issue:
I don't think you're supposed to replace Pak0.pak with Pak7.pak. Just place Pak7 in the main folder(no renaming), since there is no file in the original with that name no overwriting is needed. gamex86.dll however needs to be replaced with the mod version.
This is what I did and it worked fine.
I cant seem to get it to work in full screen mode on my laptop. I will try on my desktop but, every time I bump the resolution up it bounces me out to windowed mode. any suggestions?

Sorry, it has taken me a while to get back on this topic. I finally tried it on my desktop and no dice. Out of curiosity, did you test this mod with the CD version? right now I have it installed on steam, but I do have the CD version from way back when somewhere. If you have not tried it on the steam version then maybe that is what is causing the problem. I could try messing with the "launch options" to see if that makes things work any better. I might also try and dig up the old CD copy I have and see if that works any better.
I use the cd version.
