Interstellar is a futuristic/marine/realism Quake3 mod, it started as a Half-Life mod but has been moved to the Quake3 engine because we thought the end result would be better. The Half-Life engine just cant pull the same visuals that quake3 can, and without 9-way blending in HL "or something", the player models would suck. The model blending has since been released in a sdk but were happy we went q3a, only down side is: Alot more people have Half-Life.

We are all realism fans, but we will try _hard_ not to make, "just another clone". While most online realism games are great, the team though that there was plenty of room for improvement, also the realism-terror has been milked dry so we found a better theme for the mod "we think/hope ; )". Some of the games we get our inspiration from includes "MoH:AA, CS, Halo, AVP2, SOF2 and many more".

All of us are Sci-fi fans so it came naturally to place the mod in a futuristic universe battling marines against each others, all though this might change because we havent actually done the "story" yet.

We will start with 2 models pr side, one male and one female, we are trying to make the models as different as possible while still keeping them at the same form/size, we really want a visual games so i hope we can make the armor and helmet actually appear on the players body.

We hope to take the dark-shadow camping out of the gameplay while still having some sneak-hiding for those fun close combat ambushes. I think this will be accomplished with dark/creepy maps and relative bright players/weapons.

The weapons we make will have some resemblance to real life weapons so players can get a weapon, shoot it and say, ahh okay this is kinda like a mp5 or whatever. As with the armor/helmet we would like the weapon the player is carying to actually show on the players body.

We are planning for fast paced "round based" gameplays. The first mission type will be Retrieval, where one team defends and the other retrieves an artifact and return it to the start position. Another map in progress is a ffa type map with a sort of king of the hill twist, you have to kill ppl and collect xxxxx amount of money and escape to win, you will start with nothing and can when you choose, enter a shop and buy weapons.
We have lots of ideas for gametypes, and most of the original Q3 gametypes "FFA-TOURNEY-TDM-CTF" will still be in the game.

It's wierd how it goes...

You know it wierd how things goes, just when we descided things was going to slow and we would wait for a new engine people started working on the mod again :D

We got a female player model comming along nicely, a weapon thats been partly animated for in-view animations and only needs a texture.

Currently all animations are being integrated into the game and are being fine tuned so it looks good, after witch the weapon recoil code will be done followed by objective mode & join menu's "player selection & weapon buy menu".

As soon as we have something cool to show you we will, im hoping to get a pre-texture model screenie of the female character soon, and when the weapon is textured well fire up a bunch of screenies of that to.

I knew this was comming but i hoped we would be able to get a beta out the door before it happned.

The crew dosen't want to work with the Q3A engine anymore, and getting people in that want, is going to take way to much managing time so we descided to wait for the new exciting engine thats comming.

The engine that has the most promise is HL2 because it might be release first and it has alot of cool features, and also Doom3 because it's GREAT for this type of game although it's mp player limited it wont be drowned in all the other mods like i think it will be in HL2.

Thanks for watching while it lasted... Were keeping the modDB page like this until were possetive we found the right engine...
