A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.... On Kashyyyk, birth planet of Chewbacca and generally of wookies, which known a terrible fate with the rise of the Empire. But the time of the fall of the Empire has come, it is time to bear arms and to end twenty slavery years, however the task will be delicate cause even with the help of the young New Republic, wookies clans are divided between loyalist and separatists, besides the still important influence of the Empire remains leaded by the Great Amiral Thrawn...
Hey there guys; The exams just finished and I made some new progresses on the map of Yavin 4, I managed to create a real landscape thanks to the Software "World Machine" that rendered some awesome and realistics terrains. I based myself on the map that can be found in the "Star Wars Galactic Atlas" book. The two pages about Yavin 4 were really useful, so as to create other buildings than the classical pyramids (they are still WIP so those are not in the picture).
As you can see the size of the battlefield size is the one of a classical "Total War" map. That gave me at first some problems of performances (less than 10 FPS), but working a bit on the textures , the shadows, and the LODs of the different models (Godamm Trees!), when I play the game in full screen I'm now at 30 FPS. It's pretty perfectible, but I will work on it later.
Other news, I will start to work on the battle mechanic next week!! (Huzzah)
I will probably show some other screenshots of the map in a different angle during the month! Hope you've enjoyed Rogue One, there were plenty of views from Yavin 4; I also advice those who'd like to learn more about the EUO moon's history to read the Dr Aphra comics! ;p

That means same map size AS one of the "classic" Total War games.
Yep sorry if I wasn't clear; but I'm working on an Unreal Engine 4 landscape, with a similar size to classic TW games ones. :)

Yep the Star destroyer will be able to do some things. It's essentially about the orbital strikes:
If you have a fleet around the planet you'll be able to make it participate a bit to the land battle.
With frigates you'll be able to launch some tie fighters from the atmosphere. And the more powerful the cruiser is, the greater number of Tie strikes will be allowed.
If it's a star destroyer you will be able to do orbital strikes as in Battlefront. The cruiser will shot directly to the zone that you've selected.
That's the project.
sounds cool! but I'd suggest that the rebels get a bombing run instead of a Orbital strike because that's seems more their kinda thing
