Israeli Defense Force: Fight for Independence is a Total Conversion modification for the PC game Battlefield 2 (A.K.A. BF2). What we aim to achieve with this mod is to immerse the player into the historic wars involving Israel, Syria, Egypt, and Jordan, which are the 6-Day War, the War of Attrition, and the Yom Kippur War. The player will be able to play as a common soldier, crewmember, or pilot in these wars. The mod will feature historically accurate equipment such as the famous Russian AK-47, the fearsome SO-4050 bomber, the menacing IS3 and M48 tanks, and much, much more. Also, the maps will recreate actual battles that happened in these wars, to complete a historically-accurate and immersive modification. IDF:FFI is also a member of the acclaimed cooperative gaming studio Black Sand Studios.
The dovra (English Translation: Barge) was on of the many types of equipment that the Israelis used to cross the Suez canal during the Yom Kippur War. Uni-float barges were leftover from World War II, they were used by the allies for crossing water obstacles, such as rivers. They could be attached to each other for the establishment of floating bridge. Israel purchase several uni-float barges from the UK after the Six Day War. They were modified to form motorized barges that could ferry heavy equipment such as tanks. They could also be connected to form a floating bridge. We will have to versions of the dovra. One version will by player controlled and function as a ferry to transport vehicles across the canal. Another version will be static to form a floating bridge. The excellent model and texture was made by Bluefrog, one of our old mod team members.

Wow! Interested in seeing how you will make transporting tanks work! This is a feature we would love to have for our beach invasion maps in BFK.
Got an idea of how to make it work. I will be testing that out soon.

Forgotten Hope 2 Pacific has some pretty clever ways of making landing craft have vehicles deploy on beaches. The way one of the devs explained it to me was they had like a dummy static or something and when they got to beach and deployed and lowered the crafts ramp, it replaced the dummy static with a spawned vehicle if I recall correctly.
In BFK we have deployable supply crates which we have our big troop transport trucks and transport chopper deploy. So I thought maybe the code for that could be used when you get to a beach or something and instead of dropping a supply crate with left mouse button, it drops a vehicle.
That could work. I know the guys from the Lions Roar mod did something similar. They had a player controlled air craft carrier with planes that would spawn on it. So it was a moving vehicle with vehicles on top of it. Looking into how they did that.

Mh, if this is possible I will be trying something very soon! Going to see how well it works with a certain WW2 era aircraft carrier mesh if you get my idea. Installing that mod now.
Yeah check it out. It was a pretty unique mod. It had naval battles with destroyers and aircraft carriers. Pretty cool.
I also heard about it, for example I already tried it once to make tank support on LCT_MK5 and bot enter the vehicle and game crash because too many bots enter that landing craft. But it might support on online gameplay because no bots. Anyways, good luck developer of IDF mod and make sure all the best from you.
