Israeli Defense Force: Fight for Independence is a Total Conversion modification for the PC game Battlefield 2 (A.K.A. BF2). What we aim to achieve with this mod is to immerse the player into the historic wars involving Israel, Syria, Egypt, and Jordan, which are the 6-Day War, the War of Attrition, and the Yom Kippur War. The player will be able to play as a common soldier, crewmember, or pilot in these wars. The mod will feature historically accurate equipment such as the famous Russian AK-47, the fearsome SO-4050 bomber, the menacing IS3 and M48 tanks, and much, much more. Also, the maps will recreate actual battles that happened in these wars, to complete a historically-accurate and immersive modification. IDF:FFI is also a member of the acclaimed cooperative gaming studio Black Sand Studios.

Description

The T-54 and T-55 tanks are a series of Soviet main battle tanks introduced in the years following the Second World War. The T-54/55 series eventually became the most-produced tank in military history. By the standards of the 1950s, the T-54 was an excellent tank combining lethal firepower, excellent armor protection and good reliability. It did have several shortcoming, some of which were corrected in the improved T-55 model.

T-54/55s formed the bulk of the Egyptian Army for many years, with over 2,500 tanks ordered and delivered. Egypt began to modify and modernize their T-54/55s after the 1967. Several different improvements where made over the years.

Here we will go into a little more detail of one of the main versions of the T-54/55 that was used in the 1973 war. This version is sometimes called the T-54E Mark 0 ("E" stands for Egyptian variant) The Egyptians took their older T-54s and added a new Russian engine, a German AEG infrared/white searchlight on the left side and a Yugoslav "Iskra" laser rangefinder. A DShK 1938/46 antiaircraft heavy machine gun was also added to some of these versions. The Egyptian army also installed water storage tanks on their T-54s that were positioned over the rear fenders on both sides.

Illness88 did an amazing job of creating our modified T-54 model and texture. The original model and texture were created by degit22. The first color scheme is a unique 3-tone scheme of yellow, brown and green. The white turret and fender stripes were applied to the first wave of tanks to avoid any friendly fire incidents, as the Israeli's were also using captured T-54s. The second color scheme is a 2-tone scheme of tan and brown. And the third color scheme is a 2-tone scheme of yellow and green.
